You've sometimes noticed that it rains or you've noticed that it sometimes rains? We need to nail this down. Not the rain. I know you can't nail rain. Well, possibly you can nail rain but I can't nail rain.
It's not supposed to be but when odd things occur then so come the jokes. I was going to post something about unixman being Jack Tracey but thought better of it. I am simply above putting anything like that in this forum. I am also Napolean. The site has had some database problems and this appears to be one. The assaults on the site may have taken their toll. But we are stalwart and resolute and we troop on.
Well, I don't know about the "supposed to" part but I have been treating it as such. No offense, but complaints about the slowness of the board seem to me like complaints about the weather...a little patience and the problem is solved. This attitude is said to be characteristic of New Englanders so perhaps I should be more patient with those who are "geographically challenged." Jack
Patience, eh? The only reason there is a Connecticut is that we New Yorkers wanted something between us and Massachusetts.
It's true that conditions on the website are kind of like cyber-weather. But isn't the weather one of the most popular topics of conversation out there in the (perhaps mythological) physical world? Why should it be any different here? But what I really want to know is how Unixman's original post could be deleted without the whole thread being deleted along with it.
OK, fair enough. In honor of a brilliant Spring day (here in Connecticut, anyway) let's have a pop quiz (multiple choice, of course) related to common weather conversations. Fill in the blank. "It's not the heat, it's the ___________. a) toxic nerve agents b) #%*!<^!@! Boston drivers c) microscopic meteorites d) #%*!<^!@! politicians e) russ f) pebble in my shoe g) electromagnetic waves h) Templars, Rosicrucians and Illuminati i) sushi j) dust mites k) military-industrial complex l) infomercials m) crabgrass n) George Steinbrenner o) George Bush p) George Will q) George Carlin r) George Washington s) Martha Washington t) Martha Stewart u) Martha and the Vandellas v) telemarketers w) IRS x) all of the above y) some of the above z) other (please provide your own answer below) Thanks for the chat.
