You have learned your lesson - pun intended - and have subsequently earned a legitimate post-baccalaureate degree. You have renounced St. Regis University. Why would anyone want to condemn you for recognizing a past mistake and taking steps to correct the situation? Congratulations on earning a postgraduate diploma in law from University of Johannesburg.

Not me Len; good to have you back. It takes a lot of courage to admit you were wrong and start to make things right.

As Apollo Creed said to Rocky Balboa in Rocky III, "It takes a hell of a man to change, but you did it and you're gonna show 'em tonight".

Just wanted to post an update on the local city councilman and teacher that I found on the SRU list.

After sending the info to the city mayor or school superintendant, the teacher resigned but was immediately re-hired as a teaching assistant. Apparently, that really ticked off a lot of people in town (it appeared to show that it was OK to lie, cheat, etc)....after a few weeks of outrage, he has resigned as a teaching assistant.

He is still a city councilman though.

Does anyone still have the list students who bought degrees from St Reject?

I doubt many people on DI "had" a physical copy of the list - except possibly experts who chased down degree mills for a living, or as a serious avocation. For us others, a web-copy sufficed. Back then, I perused the list plenty - it was hosted on the Spokesman/Review site. It was here: http://www.spokesman.com/data/diploma-mill/ It is gone, now. I was unable to find a copy on the web today. Maybe someone else can.

The Spokesman-Review is from Spokane, not Seattle.

The FBI has never released the names of customers of the degree mills they dealt with. St. Regis, recall, was done in by the Secret Service, which either has different rules, or didn't know better.

Besides dignitary protection and counterfeiting investigations, the Secret Service also investigates Federal crimes involving computers and credit cards.

All Federal investigative agencies have the authority to enforce all Federal laws, but they generally stay in their respective lanes.

The SS rationalized their involvement following a sting operation in which they invented a fake Saudi chemical engineer who wanted a doctorate and, please, a student visa to come to the US, which they assured him they could get. (St. Regis had heavily bribed top people at the Liberian Ministry of Education and at the embassy in Washington to do their bidding. Ten Americans went to prison for their involvement, with some child porn charges also in the mix.)sdfl
