It appears that SCUps is seeking to work toward the accreditation path again. With the JD programs and my understanding the of Western Assoc. not accrediting JD programs, this could be tricky for them still.

Maybe the DETC pilot doctoral program will lead to approval and SCUps could seek DETC as a option again.

Steve may actually turn it around for SCUPS. You never know. 10 years ago no one in "the land of the rising sun" ever thought the current prime minister of japan would be elected. I wish SCUPS the best in their accreditation ambition and eventually RA candidacy.

I am excited for them. I visited their offices etc. two months ago while in Santa Ana as I was considering a low cost DBA program that would meet my needs. They are a nice group of people there. I wish them the best on their pursuit as well. Accreditation was stressed to me that this was important to them and it seems they are heading on the right track.

    Good Luck SCUps.

Hmmm....I wouldn't mind moving back to Southern California. Let's take a look at those requirements:

    Position Requirements Include:

    Accredited doctorate:
    Yup, got that.

    Upper level management experience:
    Yeah, some.

Accreditation experience with participation in self-studies and team visits:
    You betcha.

Commitment to growing SCUPS as a distance learning university:
Whoops! Guess I'm staying put!

Seriously, it's nice to see them trying, at least. But I wonder what form of accreditation they'll pursue? Perhaps WASC has lightened up a bit?

Didn't SCUPS apply to DETC once before and was either rejected or withdrew?

I think that WASC might be kind of a stretch for them, but DETC or ACICS are probably doable if SCUPS is willing to make a few sacrifices and adjust their business plan a little.

The sacrifices needn't be large. Pacific States University used to offer a DBA until they sought accreditation by ACICS. And they may still be offering it, using the name of a new CA-approved entity created for the purpose called American International University.

    Pacific States:

    American International:

Note the identical address and phone number.

I'd have to say Rich Douglas or John Bear would be best qualified. Wasn't Rich's doctoral dissertation related to accreditation? Either way, I'd take the job in a second. I love accreditation stuff.

My tongue was planted firmly in-cheek when I typed that. Steve was a very vocal critic of SCUPS for many years.
