Well, how about this: I always thought of dance as a subject that would not lend itself to distance learning.

It appears that this is not so, according to Saint Regis: there's an entity called the "VIRTUE: Christian Dance Studies " with "Administrator: Dr. Marilyn T. Deveaux." The page's welcome message states "Welcome to the 'Online University Community' of VIRTUE Dance Academy, featuring our Degree & Teaching Certification programs in Christian Dance Studies. "

It appears that Ms. Deveaux posted an enthusiastic description of an "eClassroom creation tool" to the AdvancedU forum. In it, the poster describes herself as "a 2003 SRU graduate and QIS licensee, just now joining the forum.."

The Saint Regis FAQ page says "SRU's involvement in the QIS Program and all Mirror Programs will end September 30th 2004." (But the FAQ page also says "The e-degree program that was in progress shall continue but only as offered by University Services and all e-degree program will be offered as a separate program to be offered to many schools" so there's no telling what this all means.)

There is information about Ms. Deveaux here in which she lists Phd, MBA, BFA credentials for herself. Her organization grants PhD's. The site mentions:

I donn't know the standard of the dancing school. However, if the subjects delivering online basis are relating to theories, it seems no problem to earn a degree in dance.

For me, I have applied for the course of martial arts, as mentioned before in other thread, from ICL Distance Learning Center, the course provider of SRU, for martial arts. It required me either to come to Hong Kong to learn the practical subjects or from other qualified Wing Chun, NOT others, martial arts schools. Otherwise, it will not confer its advanced diploma even if I complete other online modules. It stresses the diploma operating with other Wing Chun martial arts associations in Hong Kong and must comply with their standards.

I believe Arthur Murray had a home study dance course, complete with footprints that you cut out and taped to the floor.
