Perhaps mitigating that though is the fact that it's written in English?

Perhaps? But everyday Russians know what VPNs and Google Translate are, so if something is particular damning they could find it if it gets passed around.

And it wouldn't be a secret to Putin regime apparatchiks in any event.

Exactly... "Fear Mongering" in politics is basically covered in Politics 101 for politicians... Also called Sabre Rattling when used in a threatened military action context.

It would not surprise me if it was actually suggested by the Russians... the only way the Russian population would learn of it is IF the Russians allowed it to be in the news... which in my mind is very unlikely..

Being written in English is necessary for my position that it is a deliberate attempt to influence the west to back off and save some money...

I just wish I could visualize what a Russian "defeat" would look like.

I'll share my visualization, it starts with Putin dying or being overthrown.

Russia giving up and pulling out... the cost was too great... perhaps Putin leaving office (credit to Bill Huffman)... Or would/could they turn this war into a 100+ Years War/Stalemate by just refusing to part with their conquests to date, and just not seek more land? Could/Would Ukraine EVER (eventually) be satisfied with this?

I think the real question is WILL/CAN Russia EVER give up? Would the cost of giving up be too GREAT (read embarrassing on the world stage)? Would a stalemate be more likely than a pull-out? {I do NOT envision that they will ever voluntarily pull-out... they will have to be forcibly pushed out...)

I agree with your conclusion. That is why my visualization begins with the exit of Putin. I think it would be relatively easy for someone taking over after him to shrug off the embarrassment and blame it all on Putin.

I think this all has something to do with the Russian mindset.. it seems to be warped somehow... Ever since the Czar was deposed Russians seem to think the world is against them. And sadly it's not just Mr. Putin. True, every so often someone without the paranoid gene ascends to power... just to be moved out of the way by another wacko with power issues.

Worst job in the world: Food taster for Vladimir Putin. Probably 100% fatality rate - we'll never know.

That world-leader food instead of the peasant food I currently eat though, it might as well be housecat food in comparison. Waygu steak, dinosaur eggs, moon gold infused vodka, unicorn horn coffee creamer, man it's almost worth it now I think about it.

All of these world leaders are not eating the proletariat stuff we buy. As soon as the camera goes off, I'm sure Trump is asking where his steak is, hand-imported from a farm next to a castle with cows that grase in no shade with a farmer that only eats vegetarian food in the middle of Austria near a town with exactly 101 people living in it. Meanwhile, we open our tins of tuna caught on the other side of the planet to save costs this week, sharing half of it with that cat who frequents the backyard. If I had that kind of money I would do some silly stuff with food ordering and consumption, I'm not gunna lie. And the food won't be from a local Canadian-version of Kroger either.

I still feel this war is about protecting America's petro-dollar versus BRICS. And the American and Russian politicians getting rich AF over it. Just ask yourself how is someone who makes ~100k worth ~100M dollars?

For all the talk, missile components of Russian rockets were discovered as manufactured and sold by American companies. I wish this war would end then I can buy Russian vodka again, all the rest tastes like rocket fuel to me, and not in a good way.

I won't get to heavy into the religious aspect of this as that flies into the forum rules grey areas, but I feel it goes against all of the Abrahamic religions, almost no matter which sect you may prescribe to. One could argue murder instead of justified killing, which goes against the big 3 in every way and fashion. Ultimately, no matter how people decide to classify this, the big guy in the sky will make the call, so make considerations for this.

When considering things though, there is no "winning" this war, nor is there a "virtuous" side, that's brainwashing-talk. I won't even get into the facts of how Ukraine, arguably the most corrupt country on the planet now, is a vassal state of the USA "NATO" because it pleases them so. And look these comments are all over the net from the proletariat while the bourgeoisie get more and more rich by graft and foul-play to unseen before heights of richness and privilege.

And let's face it, the USA destroyed Russia's oil pipeline, ironically causing the worst environmental disaster in human history by a country mile, and now Germany has to buy oil from USA instead of Russia. No one on the planet can't say that it's coincidence that wasn't a financial-empire move and Germany can't say anything about it, but come on, they and the rest of Europa must be seeing this and thinking you dirty (insert profane of choice here). Lots of dirty play from all the players, which speaks to my remarks of no virtue. We were given free choice by our very nature, coded into us on the molecular level, however you want to call it, it doesn't mean it should be abused, nor should we ever allow for it.

Take a page out of India's book, you want war? Fine, we won't play cricket with your country, you're out of the league. Stop the madness. Empire simply isn't worth the true cost.

Sorry I know I ruffled some fur coats with this one, and it won't always be popular, but I had to say it. Anyone who wants sources or whatever, Google search is your friend, these thoughts are rife on the net now, especially with how people are getting really tired of getting lied to by our supposed elites.

The one unarguable thing I have learned about politics is that perspective is the light by which we view the issues, and that each side of the political spectrum has their own set of 'verifiable' iron-clad facts as determined by the light within these perspectives... which are usually staunchly repudiated and otherwise disrespected by the other side of the political spectrum.

Thus, in the interest of decorum, it looks like we're going to have to respectfully agree to disagree.

That is incoherent word salad. Just saying.

...and that is just factually false in practically every syllable.
    P. S. my unpopular political opinion is I WISH Ukraine would become a US client state for at least a little bit. Local politicians sure need some adult supervision; the part of President Poroshenko's term when Obama's admin paid attention and had leverage mark some of the most rapid progress we had since 1991. (Yes, that includes an episode when Biden was dispatched to help convince Porokh to get notoriously corrupt Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin fired. EVERYONE from Congressional Republicans to local activists applauded that move). Alas, other that tag-teaming with Russia to take away Ukrainian nuclear and strategic arms (admittedly with cooperation from former Commies running Ukraine at the time; I think both Kravchuk and Kuchma oversaw parts of that - and they were both former Politburo members), US left the country to make its own mistakes. I would dust off my passport and gladly go vote for any viable pro-American party if I get a chance.
