    Re: Overqualified for a Masters

You say you have your MCSE, is it a Microsoft MCSE or is it an MCSE from some "organization"?

You said "It must also be mentioned that I also sent Robertstown a MCSE - Windows NT 4.0 Support Skills Certificate of Achievement from http://www.skillspride.com. this was amongst may other certificates presented by this IT training web site to Robertstown. It must be mentioned that the MCSE according to some is being presented as a 12-point Master's degree."

That is not a REAL MCSE. This does not sound like it qualifies for credit.

    Not Deserving of Credit

From that which has been said in this forum someone may ascertain that I am not deserving of credit. However it has been said to me by academics that they cannot understand why I am at University. In some cases they have said that I probably know more than they do about computers, business and related subjects. I must hasten to mention that I went to see an academic in the year 2000 and he said: "I cannot understand why you would want to study for a mathematics degree because you already have the Key skills it would impart to you!"

    close but no cigar

Some folks talk of seeing academics like some other folks talk of seeing Martians.

This person says academics say they can't understand why this person is at university. I'm no academic. What I can't understand is why this person says he's at university.

    My Business

Why I am at University is my business and as nothing to do with anybody else apart from my academics and people in the know. But it is illness related.

    That Which Some Say

Some say: "Why do I need a piece of paper to prove I have got the knowledge?" I am not talking about myself!

    Well Taught

An academic the other week said to me: "You are extremely well learned especially considering you are mainly self-taught".

    Never Regularly Attended

I did not regularly attend the following institutions:

    Infant School
    Primary School
    Secondary School

I did attend sixth form college and as a result ended in Durham University in the north-east of England. I went to study for a BSc in Mathematics. Durham is considered by some to be on a par with Oxford for mathematics. Unfortunately my studies were interrupted due to my mother contracting cancer and her subsequent death.

Listen, mate, when last you surfaced you were going to Lancashire Business to get a BSc. I commended you for that. Now you are shilling for Robertstown and bragging about the worthless pieces of caca you insist on calling "degrees". Regrettable.

I think you have got me wrong

I am not bragging about the Robertstown degrees in fact I hardy value them at all.

    I value my experience

As I say I hardly value my Robertstown degrees. I value my experience more than anything. This is that which I am commended for. Not the degrees or certificates irrespective of where they came from.

    Never Received Anything

I guess this is the way it should be. Reason being is that I hardly ever received anything from formal education. i wasn't there to receive it.

    You were probably bored

My course tutor commented on looking at my "A" level results that in his opinion the reason why I wouldn't attend compulsory education is because I was bored of it. It was probably too easy for me.

    technical Skills Brilliant

My course tutor commented that my technical skills are brilliant, but my social skills leave something to be desired. In other words I lacked them.

    Why always on the offensive

Anyway why are the people who respond to this forum always on the offensive. Or defensive come to that.

    Lack of Social Skills

I suppose the reason why I lack social skills is because I have never given them the chance to grow, eg absconding from school. However I suppose the reason why my technical skills are brilliant is because while you lot were socialising at school I had more technical things to see to.

    My Technical Bent

I suppose my technical bent started when I was four years of age. this is when I took my mother's aunty's toaster to pieces. By the way I could not put it back together again!

    Private Boarding School

In my second year of comprehensive school I was given one more chance to attend school otherwise be sent to a boarding school. Alas I did not attend and as a consequence was sent to the boarding school. When the school board officer gave me this chance I said to her: "I know loads of children who abscond from school but you do not send them to such a school". On reply she said: "But we think you have the potential to do well!"

Unfortunately the education at this school was below national standards. Instead of attending to academic matters I was given the chance to attend to things of a more technical nature.

Recently I telephoned the education authority to find out why I was sent to this school. The officer replied: "There must have been a good reason why you were sent to this school because it costs a fortune to send a child to such a school."
