RFK Jr. is an Opportunist

Aside from him being an anti-science weirdo who apologized for being a sexual predator, the guy is a fraud. His son recorded him having a conversation with Trump. Trump was offering him a position in exchange for his endorsement. Now that Harris is up in the polls, RFK Jr. is offering his endorsement in exchange for a promised position in her administration, if she were to win.

Now that he's down to polling 4% or so, his endorsement isn't the brass ring that it might been.

That said, he apparently really has done a lot of noteworthy work as an environmental lawyer. If, say, giving him EPA would get his support, maybe she should take him up on it. (If he's gunning for HHS, then no, not so much.)

It would be a bad idea for her to connect herself to an anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist with credible sexual assault allegations.

He could just drop out of the race, not make a public endorsement, and appoint him to a very low level position. But I think he might take more votes from Trump than Harris so maybe not?

I’m not too confident RFK Jr. would be confirmed in the Senate to EPA, and whichever party controlled the Senate.

I do often think about an alternate timeline in which someone flattered Trump that he could be America’s Dealmaker-in-Chief by becoming U.S. Trade Representative, and that’s the highest political office he achieved, maybe even in a Democratic administration.

Trump has switched parties several times, and he donated to Harris not too long before he ran for president. He probably would have taken a position within a Democratic administration.

The country is not doing well.
I think it got worse for people in the US.
Cost of living, Crime, Aging infrastructure and other pressing issues, internally and abroad.
    We need capable leaders.

Crime is down since the last administration. The infrastructure has been aging for decades; that didn't happen overnight. Trump could have done something about it, but he didn't. An infrastructure bill was passed under this administration.

    My comment was bipartisan.
Looking further in to the future, and my views based on what is in the local news, and among friends, relatives, neighbors, what we spend on grocery's, gas and the pump for the car, everything like tripled.
Cost of living is astronomical, young generations are despered.
    Salaries don't keep with inflation.
People can't afford rent and basic needs.
    I remeber the 80s, 90s, 2000, and can compare.
Was blessed with good life in US, good jobs.

Inflation did reach its highest level in 50 years, but crime is down, even in the historical context. This country was significantly more dangerous in the late 80s and early 90s. That is backed by statistics, and I vividly remember being subjected to D.E.A.R. lessons because of the crack epidemic and having clothing choices restricted in school because of high gang activity. The city I grew up in had one of the highest rates of drive-by shootings, and I often heard gunshots when I was very young. Now, that same city is relatively safe for a large city.

    That should read D.A.R.E.

Crime is down where? Watch Chicago tonight! I have a friend in Chicago now, and it's started. Look at what they did to cities like Minneapolis, and NY. Baltimore and DC. You are dreaming if you feel crime is down. Open borders brought thousands of adversaries! This has been the worst administration in history. Not about right and wrong, this election, it Trump haters, and those who remember the economy. Waste of time to comment, but I did.

Sorry, but that's not the case:

    https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/04/24/what-the-data-says-about-crime-in-the-us/

The short version is that while it's not a straight line, crime has been in decline since the '90s.

This bit also seems relevant: "Americans tend to believe crime is up, even when official data shows it is down."

Immigrants are not "adversaries", and the US doesn't have anything close to open borders.

And might actually be a shame, because the US used to have open borders back in the Ellis Island days, and that's when the country grew the fastest, both economically and in population. But that's clearly politically infeasible nowadays.

Brother Steve, all immigrants are not adversaries, but I have solid information regarding the number of folks here with bad intentions!

    My
Crime is to wide of the term.
Types of crime such as ones posted in the table by Gov agencies.
Also as mentioned in another there'd large % goes unreported.
Homelessness, cost of living contribute to the statistics.
Large cities deteriate on a constant basis.
    Legal immigrants get screened.
    Undocumented don't get screened.
Those that come from countries where woman abuse is cultural, tribal mentality, spread this not only to migrant woman who, but also non migrant woman.
Human trafficing is a major issue.

I'm a Black woman who knows that violence against Black women rose dramatically under the Trump administration, and the statistics back it up. There was even a woman tracking the homicides one-by-one because it was such an issue. You're on an education board, so most are not going to believe in alternative facts.

Memphis and New Orleans are more dangerous than Chicago, but the MAGA cult doesn't talk about those two because they're in red states in the South.

The vast majority of crimes are committed by citizens. In a country of over 300 million people, those numbers you keep posting are very small. Those nationwide stats for immigrant crimes are the numbers you'll see in ONE large city.

In 2022, the U.S. had 1.6 million assaults. Lerner keeps posting these miniscule numbers in regard to crimes committed by undocumented immigrants. They don't even make a dent in the overall crime statistics.

Back on topic, RFK Jr.'s running mate says they might drop out and endorse Trump because they thought they would mostly take votes away from the Democratic nominee. It turns out that they're mostly drawing away Trump voters. They should have known that an anti-science wacko and sexual predator would mostly attract those who already support a sexual predator who gives alternative facts. I guess RFK Jr. didn't get that Harris administration job he wanted.
