What institutions are considered the most respected DL schools in counseling or psychology? I'm in the process of applying to the EdD program at the University of Argosy/Sarasota but I'm beginning to have misgivings after becoming a member of this forum. Can someone give me a little more insight into the credibility and respectability of the other schools available?

    Thanks,
    David

    David,
If you are looking to maximize your earnings and visibility go for the PhD in Clinical Psychology at a RA APA approved program. It may take a little longer and cost a little more, but in the long run you will be happy you spent the extra hours and bucks.

    Right, Simon?

Thanks, Howard, but I've already considered this option and it appears Fielding is the only APA DL program out there. Unfortunately, it takes 5 or more years to complete, costs over $50,000 and they accept no transfer credit. Because I've already earned a master's in counseling from a cacrep accredited school and completed 30 semester hours of post graduate course work, it looks like remaining on the professional counselor licensure track is going to be my best option. Although my earning potential may not be as much as a clinical psychologist, it will still allow me to work in schools, community mental health agencies, hospitals and private practice.

Also, I've already looked into Walden, Capella, Union and Saybrook, and it still looks like Argosy/Sarasota is going to be my best bet in terms of money, transfer credit and time. Thanks for your input. It helped clarify my options between licensure in psychology vs counseling.
