    Hi,

I know that a lot of online degree programs require a proctor and that is not what I am looking for. I know that there are reputable schools out there that allow you to obtain a degree without a proctor, but I simply can't find them. Does anyone have experience with these schools? Could you point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

Northcentral University, APUS, Capella University and I believe Excelsior College have proctorless learning. www.ncu.edu and www.excelsior.edu and www.capella.edu and www.apus.edu. Are you looking for proctor-less undergrad courses.

Excelsior? Really? I thought that they required a proctor. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the other suggestions as well. If anyone else knows of more schools, then please keep the suggestions coming as I would like to evaluate several.

In answer to your question, I am specifically looking for an undergrad degree program.

Thanks for replying. Yea not sure about excelsior undergrad courses. There are undergrad professors at APUS that may require a proctor.

You can use a FREE proctor at your local public library.

Yes, I know that. That has nothing to do with my question.

Excelsior undergrad courses do not require proctors...not sure about grad courses, but I do not think they require proctors either...

I don't know about the degree programs but Oklahoma City Community College has classes that don't require a proctor. My youngest son took Comp 1, Comp 2 and Success in College through OCCC without a proctor. Other classes he's looked into (but not enrolled in) were also proctorless. Those were Intro to Computers and Intro to Philosophy.

The odds are if those are proctor free, so are others. I know you can't get a bachelors there but it's a start.

TUI does not have tests therefore no proctors. It is all paper writing.

So far as APU/AMU goes the proctor seems to be at the discretion of the professor. I had four or five classes that rquired proctoring - midterm or midterm and final exam out of the twelve classes for the MA in History.

Ok - but why are you so driven to proctorless learning? Does a proctor somehow imped your learning?

I understand that some of the regional accreditors are starting to zero in on academic integrity - insisting that schools demonstrate that the people they give degrees to actually did the academic work.

Proctors are certainly one way to ensure some measure of integrity.

    Regards - Andy

I had inquired about a distance learning Masters program at Amberton University and the advisor replied that not all classes had exams and none of them were proctored.

I was thinking kinda the same thing as Andy but I guess I'd want to say, if I'm understanding this correctly, that it's not really "proctorless learning."
    It's proctorless testing. Right?

Ellis University in Chicago. It's a fairly new school with old roots and it's a bit pricey, BUT no proctors are needed. The online format is really good too!!

    Good luck ;)

Are you fear of testing? Well, there are schools that don't have any exams, but you have to write assignments. Here are two schools that I can think of...

    Northcentral University
Tui University (Formerly Touro International University)

Some still require exams but without a proctor like Devry.

Some other have no exams like Jones International and Capella.

I believe Bellevue University has no exams for their courses. Their grades are based on written papers. Same story for University of Leicester.
