That is not true. If they are conscripted, then they will be provided training and regulation to be able to fight and win. If they are not conscripted, then they will not be trained or regulated. Either way, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, per the Constitution.

This writer has not disclosed a personal opinion on that issue -- and will not.

How is this not true? Unregulated militias do exist, and they're perfectly legal under the current interpretation of laws.

Regulation as militia only occurs if they are conscripted. Either way:

    1. If they are conscripted as militia, then they are regulated, but the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed.

    2. If they are not drafted as militia, then they are not regulated, but the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed.

    What, a thread hijack???

No, but the above quote from me again is in the Penn Foster thread that was necromanced today.

I note it here to show that, once upon a time in a galaxy far away, me again was capable of expressing opinions and providing helpful advice in the field of distance education without spouting off on politics.

Ya know, I liked that guy. And I miss him.

As heirophant mentioned, the militia issue is out the window. The D.C. v. Heller case clarified the 2nd Amendment as an individual right. The gun grabbers then tried to rationalize that it only applied to the District of Columbia, so back to the Supreme Court everyone went.

The McDonald v. Chicago case incorporated that right to the states, under the 14th Amendment. Game, set, match.

People don't always agree with Supreme Court decisions. I don't agree with Roe v. Wade, but it's been the law of the land since before I was born, so I just go about my business. That still hasn't stopped others from challenging it.
