I much preferred Aspen U as the name, that is disappointing. I had considered their EdD. I'd actually never heard of USU, but apparently they're RA and formerly InterAmerican College. Neat!

I agree with you Dustin. I received my BSBA from Aspen U about 15 years ago. They had great student services and the circriculum was very good. I wish they would have kept Aspen instead of USU.
But the Aspen students will go from DEAC to WASC.

Aspen’s DSc in Computer Science will notably become RA when it becomes housed at USU. USU could (could) also apply to convert the program to a PhD.

They might keep Aspen College of the United States University. Aspen moved out of Aurora, Colorado; keeping the name might confuse people. Besides, their operations might move to San Diego to be under WASC's territory.

DEAC is expanding their scope to offer PhD programs, so they might have been able to do this anyway. For example: https://www.wciu.edu/phd-program

"WCIU’s Ph.D. in Global Development is approved by Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) as part of a pilot project. However, the program is not yet included within WCIU's scope of DEAC accreditation. DEAC is working to extend their scope of recognition to include PhD programs with the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The program is fully licensed by the State of California."

It's a bold strategy, Cotton, let's see if it pays off for them....

On the one hand, I'd still have wanted to keep using "Aspen" since it makes the place sound posh. But I suppose if their target market is people in lower income countries who can't get F-1 status, then "United States" has more cachet.

I do think they need to fire their name picking person, however.

Basically, they seem to be merging the two in order to save costs and shave staff. Hopefully the programs would retain their professors and students remain. Another reason they may be doing this is because they're looking to focus on the RA aspect instead of retaining their extra fees with NA (DEAC). Aspen didn't leave a good impression when I first inquired about their programs, that's nearing two decades now, if they've improved on many of their issues, that would be ideal...

Okay, but what's their market cap, and where is that price relative to a year ago, or five years ago?
