Not too impressive, but I wasn't sure what to expect. At least it's not inside a "Mailboxes, Etc."!

Not much, but at least it beats Dixie Randock's basement or John Dovelos' garage.

    Hi

I am confused. We have a picture of the building next door but no picture of the front?

I just posted everything that was sent to me. Hopefully, Abner can explain each picture.

    Hi Bruce

I understand. It is just curious in its absence. The side, the parking lot, the door, the building next door, but no front picture. Perhaps Abner can add one of the front. In any case thanks to both of you.

Sorry everybody, I tried to get a good frontal picture, but there was an accident across the street and the police had the street corded off (of course where I really needed to be).

Most of pix were from the side, I also tried to show the area surrounding CCU. (Buildings next to CCU, etc.)

This was my first time using a digital camera, once again, sorry the pix did not come out better. I did not do the building justice (the front was the best angle).

    Take,

    Abner :)

Not much to speak of. Seem to recall Steve Levicoff making comical remarks on A.E.D. following his visit there.

It is a bit more impressive than the unaccredited shining star with whom it was once compared http://www.cpu.edu/

California Coast University is accredited by the DETC.

    TCord,

I caught that and edited before I saw your post but thanks.

No big deal. I just didn't want someone new to read that and unfairly compare the two, although neither has an impressive "campus".

Well if we're going to be fair(er) about this: during my involvement with Columbia Pacific, late 70s, early 80s, and for the next ten years, they owned their own quite large building in San Rafael, somewhat larger than the California Coast Building (which I have visited). About thirty people worked there, and a dozen more at the "North Campus" ranch in Petaluma, which also had facilities for visiting students, and a modest library with a fulltime librarian.

Then as things shredded in the mid 90s, they moved to the depicted smaller offices in Novato, then to smaller still offices in Missoula, then to oblivion.

PS: One of things that impressed me on my CCU visit was that as Thomas Neal (Sr.) and I were leaving the building on a Friday afternoon, he first punched a bunch of buttons on his console, and explained that he was moving excess funds from the checking account to the interest-earning savings account for the weekend, and would move the money back Monday morning. Now that's cash management.

Thanks for you comments Dr. Bear. I don't think I or anyone else ever touted the fact that CCU has the best campus around(these comments are not directed at you). If everybody in this forum looked for that criteria, they would be paying huge tuition fees.

Having said that, for those that are out of state, CCU is located in the heart of Orange County California in a prime location. I can only imagine how much this modest looking building is worth. Orange County is one of the richest counties in our State. This tells a logical person CCU is at least financially strong, probably due to the good cash management activities you stated earlier.

My comments have been of the opinion that CCU suits many peoples needs at a reasonable price and convenience. They are also DETC accredited. Those that receive their degrees from CCU can have the confidence to know their school in not located at "P.O. Box". That was really my only point.

    Thanks Dr. Bear,

    Abner :)

    Hi Abner

You shouldn't apologize for your pictures as they came out very nice. In my opinion both the building and the area are of good quality and you have certainly shown they do not operate out of a PO Box.

I am always curious about the comment "suits many peoples needs." Well, yes, it does or they wouldn't have chosen it nor sent their check. At the same time, the same can be said of every degree mill that has ever existed.

They certainly "suit" the needs of their customers or their customers would never have sent a check. Whether those actions are thought out and reasonable are a completely different question. I wonder if the teachers who purchased a St Regis degree see there choice as wise after the exposure of exactly what St Regis is?

In any event CCU has certainly served its students well by surviving and finally becoming accredited. Both are tasks CPU unfortunately failed at and CCU should be commended for.

Thanks for your comments Dave. Ironically, I am not a student at CCU. I just watched them evolve and receive N/A accreditation. A perusal of their website shows new degree options, involvment in the transfer alliance, and the fact that they have been approved as a CLEP and DANTES testing center. I respect all of CCU's accomplishments.

To those that have graduated from CCU, I would say you should be very proud! After I receive my B.A. from COSC (hopefully by next year), I will consider them for a possible MBA.

    Have a good day everybody!!

Well, at least California Coast U looks better than the picture of Oakland International U (aka - the Oakland Stadium)

    Abner,

    Thanks for the photos.

As stated earlier, at least it's not a Mailboxes, etc. :D

The surrounding neighborhood looks very nice.

The first and second pic are actually the front doors as the front of the building is all windows, which face the busy 17th street.

I found it to be a very nice administrations offices and a nice Santa Ana location. Like we are all aware, they are distance learning, so there is no classroom space.

I think a two story building is more than enough space.

    I am proud of CCU

Is there any CCU graduate or current student here? One of my properties is bigger that the entire “university”. I hope that CCU looks better and bigger than what was shown in the pictures. Pacific States University in the same LA occupies at least two plots of land.

Wow Professor! Do you feel better about yourself know? I am not a student of CCU, but I would have no problem listing CCU on my resume.

    Take care,

    Abner
