How is your educational journey going at Liberty? I know that is off topic but hopefully I can steer the conversation a different direction. LOL I really do like their offerings as they seem to have a wide range of programs.

LOL. JoshD, Dont you try to derail the thread that we derailed fair and square.

Liberty has been awesome. I should warn you that I am in the CJ program which was stood up quickly. So we experienced some growing pains. But, those are pretty much minimal now.

Overall, I have been really impressed with the program and course designs within my program. I am not sure how that translates to the School of Education, but based on the program guides I saw for the Ed programs, I think Liberty must have a pretty solid process for making sure the programs and courses are well designed.

I would say Liberty feels like the Chick fil a of education. The product is undeniably great (for anyone who is willing to review it objectively) and the people are super nice. You also know in the background that the workers are definitely Christian and you kind of suspect them of being conservative, but you never hear any overt conservative opinions. So, you cant be 100% sure based on anything other than their affiliation with the organization.

Does that help at all? Let me know if you have more questions. Chris might add his opinion as well.

That is awesome! I am not looking into any programs as I will be pursuing my degree at Duke but I do enjoy hearing positive things said about Liberty since they catch so much crap for being a Christian based university. I am actually a conservative Christian so I likely align with their beliefs and such but I do try to be more open-minded in the fact that others will think differently than me and that is acceptable. As long as they show me respect for my views then I will show them respect for theirs. :)

    Soooooo maybe not?

I didn't stereotype anyone. You should go look up what that word means. I DID make a general statement, but that's not the same thing. It's okay; it's a common mistake. Perhaps they'll teach that in the sophomore year.

And I didn't take it personally. That was the point. But you're making it personal, which appears to be your point. No thanks.

It appears you'd rather argue than reason. I would not.

And I'm sure big ol' Liberty University can handle any criticisms lobbed at them from this unread backwater of the internet. Besides, there's so much good to say about it, right? It is a substantial university with myriad of programs that, were it not for the shenanigans of its current leader, would likely make leave it largely unobjectionable. Liberty is also a pioneer in distance learning. As I recall, it was one of the first regionally accredited schools to offer the MBA completely online back in the 1980s. I have to think things have gotten even better--in content and deliver methodology--since then. So there.

Liberty doesn't catch flak for being a Christian-affiliated university. (Not "Christian-based; the vast majority of its offerings are secular, and I'm sure even the religion studies offerings are scholarly.)

There are several hundred regionally accredited Christian-affiliated universities in the US. Of all them, I can recall only three getting serious criticism: Liberty, Oral Roberts, and Bob Jones. In each case, it was because of the Looney Tunes actions of their founders. (Bob Jones went further with racial discrimination to the point where they surrendered their Title IV eligibility rather than support equal rights.) Three. I don't even recall much criticism of Pat Roberts' school. But that's about it. There are hundreds of others who go about their business with no criticisms for their Christian affiliations.

Liberty catches flak in the press for the actions of its founder's son. Right or wrong, he's the source. Whether or not that matters to prospective students, students, and graduates is up to them.

Also Rich: "Liberals do not think of conservatives the way conservatives think of liberals. Not at all."

Stereotype: "a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing."
Stereotype: "something conforming to a fixed or general pattern."

Since you seem confused, I will use my sophomore education to explain it to you. You assumed that all liberals think of conservatives in a particular way. You also assumed that all conservatives think of liberals in a different way. You held an oversimplified view of two groups. You also seem to think you have identified a fixed general pattern in both liberals and conservatives.

I also like the way you claimed to not want to argue, but your first two comments on the thread were an eye roll emoji and referring to Liberty as 'that place' (with disgust just beaming through your message).

I'm surprised he even commented on this post. Last I heard he said he was gonna use the "ignore" option for me. I thought my posts and comments wouldn't be visible to him.

What about someone who has EdD from Cal Coast Uni and wants to earn RA Ph.D.?

Knowing Liberty, there might be a way around this.

There is no established path, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Negotiation is a huge part of graduate education. Better move quickly, though. CCU's status might be changing.

Agree, there is no compromise in the increased standards and their enforcement by DEAC. Chances for improvement and compliance with the requirements are provided.
I remember a long time ago how happy I was for the CCU when they achieved DETC accreditation.
I always thought CCU was one of the better DEAC accredited schools, not that I had any experience with the school.
