A couple of years ago, pcu dot edu brought up a website for Pass Christian University (mentioned elsewhere on this forum) which at the time was an affiliate of CUFCE.

I didn't mean to impugn the field of Virtual Reality, I just found it very odd that a questionable school would have that among their very few academic offerings. I was expecting the usual lineup of Business, Education, and Psychology/Counseling.

To the best of my recollection, there have been three incarnations of the site pcu dot edu.

    (1) Planting Church University (I think that was the original title - or very similar)
    (2) Pass Christian U. (never located in Pass Christian MS, as far as I know)
    (3) Paramount California U.

PCU ( I assume meaning Paramount Cal.) is still referenced by its initials in a couple of places in the text of the current Hollywood International site.

As I see it, VR is the newest internet-fueled "bandwagon" discipline. Teenage gamers aspire to a career in it and many others figure they can somehow get rich from it. Speaking of getting rich from VR, I hear there will be a 360-degree Facebook.

So, how can any school in the whole market-spectrum afford to be left out?

Plantation Christian University, now the University of Ft. Lauderdale. No relation to either Pass Christian or Paramount California University.

Thanks - good to know Plantation Christian U. was unrelated.

Don't know how important this is - if at all - but I just noticed another similarity between Coronado Pacific U. and Hollywood International U.

Both are Delaware incorporations and both are registered in California as "foreign educational corporations."

I thought maybe somehow being "foreign" corporations might make the schools BPPE exempt, but I'm not sure. In fact, I'm pretty certain at least one site stated the school had started - or intended to start - the BPPE approval process. Anyway, here are the BPPE exemptions, which don't specifically mention "foreign" anything :

    http://www.bppe.ca.gov/forms_pubs/verification_exempt.pdf

The schools would appear (to this layman) to be "foreign" only in that they are incorporated out-of-state. But what do I know? Anyway - not really important, I guess, but if anybody knows....

Yes - Coronado Pacific did. Hollywood International made no such claim.

    From the Coronado Pacific site:

"Coronado Pacific University (CPU) is an applicant to be an approved, private post-secondary institution that is in compliance with state standards of the State of California Bureau for Private Post-Secondary Education (BPPE) to offer bachelors, masters, doctoral degree and certificates of completion diplomas. The university is not accredited by any private agency recognized by the US Department of Education and therefore CPU students are not eligible to receive student tuition assistance from the US Government Guaranteed Student Loan program."

This CPU also states it is registered as a 501c3 non-profit.

Today, our knowledgeable friend mbwa shenzi reported (100% accurately, as usual) - that Paramount California U. appears to have a site once again. I looked it up and The "President's Office" page shows a bio. and pic of Dr. David Rivkin.

I could not find a site any more for Coronado Pacific U. I did, however, find this article about the school: http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/2016/jan/19/ticker-coronado-pacific-university-sham/#

As Shaggy said: "wasn't me" Charles1980 saw it first.

    @johann

If you take a look at PCU's office of the president page, you'll see that there are two presidents: if you wait for a while, you'll see a picture of Yanni Zack above the picture of David Rivkin. He's also president. Not that he's necessarily aware of it though.

    Apologies to:

    (2) Charles1980

And yes- thanks. I waited a few seconds and the image of Mr. Zack materialized above the picture of Dr. Rivkin. Both are indeed identified as President. First time through I missed it, engrossed as I was in Dr. Rivkin's bio.
