    Hi All,

recently, I came across the cardean.edu and their MBA programme, their course offerings were all developed with the leading Business Schools, more or less all the ones you can dream of and can't really afford to go there <grin>. The MBA is not the lowest in cost, (45 each about 500$) but it seems to be a good online interface and concept.DECT accredited. Though, I couldn't really find it in Bears Guide or Petersons (last years editions). Does anyone have experience with cardean courses or does know more about it?

    Thanks,

    Michaela

It is described on page 102 of the 14th edition of Bears' Guide, although I left out our wonderment at naming a university for the Roman goddess of domestic life.

An impressive and entirely satisfactory place. The only hesitation is when one wonders about the matter of universities owned by for-profit companies, and how they will fare if they are not paying their way. (There have been several accounts recently in this forum, most recently Masters Institute, of a school suddenly closing for this reason, stranding many current students.) But Michael Milken and Larry Ellison have both business acument and deep enough pockets, I suspect, so this would not be a major worry.

    Avoid.
It "sounds" great but below the surface it sucks. The degree is not offered from any of the schools who assisted in developing the courses. The University will not have either the quality assurance of either a Royal Charter or Regional Accreditation... in fact, if you tried to transfer the courses you may find that virtually no one will accept them (i.e. DETC is not exactly as good as gold). The reason it is so expensive is basically because it is a major profit oriented venture.
I do not doubt that the quality will be high but I think there are better options.

    Lewchuk,

well, that is one of the doubts I had, and as it is a for-profit-org/business, the chance that they might decide to cancel the venture or course while someone is at it, is relatively high and thinking about perhaps not be able to transfer the credits - yeah, I think hands off might be a good option :))
But I keep it bookmarked for further education courses / purposes.

    Thanks for your advice,

    Michaela
