These may be perfectly good graduate degrees in engineering, but they are not ABET-accredited.

If you look up Mississippi State University at, you will see that it does have nine ABET-accredited BS programs in engineering, plus one in computer science. But these are all B&M bachelor's programs.

This doesn't necessarily mean that the MSU graduate degrees are lacking, because the absence of ABET accreditation is normal for graduate degrees in engineering. Historically, ABET has rarely accredited graduate engineering degrees, except at graduate-only institutions. This policy may be changing, but that's how it is for now.

Graduate degrees in engineering are generally considered credible if the school has ABET accreditation for its BS programs. That would be the case at MSU. But technically, only the BS degrees are ABET-accredited, not the MS or PhD degrees.

Regardless. This thread might win "awesome thread of the year."

I am glad that they are moving these degrees online! It will really open up the program to a lot of different people. It seems that more and more schools are moving their programs online too.

    TEKMAN Semper Fi!

I want to see some Canadian schools following others on research Ph.D's program. The reason for that because it is cheaper for American students to travel for their residencies opposes British and Australian's programs. These programs from UK and AU might be decent price tags, but travel expenses are brutal.

There are a number of different programs out there. Like I said, online schools are pretty popular and you don't have to travel at all to do it. My wife is going for her own MSE Engineering Degree online and just does it as she can.

    Hi Cyber,

Do you know the total cost of online Phd(computer engineering) from Mississippi State University? I see on there website and it seems to be around $322.50 per credit but I am sure there will be other costs for distance education students. So, if someone is enrolled in the degree, that would give much accurate picture.
