    Well this is a interesting...

I find it amazing that the British, and the rest of the world for that matter, have this amazing egalitarian approach to education. Qualifications and determination can make someone's desire to achieve come true. Good for the Brits, Dundee University and the students that might have a chance.

I am now waiting for the response of the American Medical Association. Will it be similar to the ABA, who under the guise of "quality," place irrational barriers to entry for those who are qualified to learn, yet can not sit in residence due to life obligations.

I would hope that the AMA would embrace this format and welcome well trained physicans into their ranks regardless of the delivery of the education.

  3. Still need hands on practice

The last two years of traditional medical school is spent in hospitals and clinics so that students see medicine in action, not just theory. I hope that online medical school has some sort of clinical requirement built in because I would hate to have an operation performed by a student who only had virtual experience. My body isn't a video game...

    The AMA Lobby

The AMA has a vested interest in preserving the status quo - their $$$$$. They need to control the number of physicians which means controlling admissions to medical schools, residencies etc. The allopathic medical schools aren't expanding but the osteopathic medical schools are doing well.

The list of partners doesn't include the AMA - maybe they didn't want to play. Some big hitters on this Partners List including an Ivy Leaguer - Brown.
