    Hello everyone,

I am looking into a BSCS degree and am deciding between Mercy College and University of Maryland. Does anyone have any preference to either of these school or BSCS degree program?

I am currently working on my AAS in CIS online at Portland Community College in Portland, OR. I'll be done this year and am not sure which school is best to transfer to.

There might also be other universities out there that offer BSCS that I might not know of. My only problem is that I travel year-round and need a school that offers the entire BSCS degree online, including some of the higher level math courses like calculus. I am also looking for one that offers Financial Aid program such as pell grants and stafford loans. These two particular requirements really narrows my options. Can anyone advise?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Claire

Unfortunately, I can't really speak to the issue of the quality of the BSCS programs at University of Maryland www.umuc.edu and Mercy College www.mercy.edu , though I think that both are good schools overall. However, since you say that there might be other DL BSCS programs you don't know about, I give you this list.

Claire, my brother is currently seeking the same and he's attending Westwood College Online. It's all done online and he's really satisfied with all courses. You may want to check into it.

Westwood is not accredited by a regional or national accrediting body, they have had many problems with the transfer of credit to RA schools. Also, they don't actually offer a BSCS through their online program from what I can tell.

After reviewing the Westwood web site it was obvious they lacked either national or regional accreditation. With all the options out there for computer-related degrees better options exist.

I it nice to see yet another person hitting the 95% completion mark towards their degree. Congratulations on the milestone ! When do you anticipate finishing up?

    WESTWOOD COLLEGE

    hi all,

Thought I would give my 2 cents on WestWood, after spending one term here,I can say NEVER EVER suggest that anyone attend this school ie: thier accredidation is a joke and the only school I found to accept thier credits was UOP,the students do run the campus by not showing up to classbeing rowdy when they do show up and, then getting the Dean to give them a passing grade, also some of my teachers would give the mid-term and or, final once in the beginning of class, then grade it, give it back to the students, go over the anwsers and then give the test again...

So if you want more than a peice of paper DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!

Thanks everyone, for all the input. I think I've decided on either Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, or Regis in Denver, CO. Though I think I'm leaning more toward Regis because of their reputation.

    Thanks again.

Actually, Westwood is accredited by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology, a national accredition agency recognized by the United States Department Of Education. However, be warned that national accreditation often does not command the same respect as regional accreditation.
