As most of you know Georgia Tech blasted to the front MOOC scene with its announcement a MOOC driven On-Line Master of Science in Computer Science. It seems other entities in the University System of Georgia are discussing a wider reach utilizing MOOCs. Apparently, there's some deckchair re-arranging going on in the MOOC world. Looks like there's been some "disruption" done to Coursera's "disruption" model. Seems (income < burn rate) = problems. Not looking so good... Coursera Jumps the Shark | HESA Johann
The moves afoot are interesting to say the least. I suspect these MOOC infrastructure providers will go the route of a software provider and become mere tools rather than being at the forefront. The keys to the kingdom are held by the colleges and universities since they have the degree/credential granting authority. Maybe Udacity has found the best path forward in its relationship with GA Tech's College of Computing. I am seriously looking everyday to see who will be next and what the "degree" will be.
