I cannot agree. I agree that NCU will continue to increase tuition rates, but I'd have to assume that the competitor institutions mentioned will also continue to increase rates. NCU appears to walk a fine line between looking affordable and looking cheap which is a dangerous line to walk when attempting to build brand recognition. I'll assume that NCU's ability to continue to compete will be contingent on their decision to access Federal Title IV. My concern thereafter would be a serious hike in tuition. Grad students can access nearly $20K P.A.Y. through Stafford Loans which explains the standard rates at most RA Title IV institutions. The temptation will be there for NCU. If they're smart, they'll resist as the brand strength at present will not be justified by a $70K price tag. Hyundai knows they want to compete in the luxury market with BMW and Benz, but it realizes that no one will pay $70K for the Genesis. So their strategy of offering a seriously competitive product at an affordable price will work, albeit slowly... NCU should follow suit.

I see many things in their historical strategy that do not seem sustainable. Novelty must take a back seat to functionality. The 1 on1 delivery and lack of a physical residency will continue to give them a serious advantage. People overlook that most doc programs add nearly $5K in cost because of residency. If NCU plays their cards right and improves the student experience drastically while maintaining a price advantage, and they access Title IV, they will be a major player in the next 5 years - especially in the international market.

This is very wise observation. As State Schools and Community College which receive tax dollars keeping increasing their tuition and fees.

Higher Education is over pricing themselves out of customers. The business formula of Higher Education no longer works as the job market and economy tank. Parents will ask; why waste money a business degree or Park Recreation and tourism degree when they land graduates with minim wage jobs?

The real crash will be when Sallie Mae, the nation's leading provider of student loans goes under as did Fannie Mae.

At some point the State Legislators and Congress will stop giving into the powerful lobby of Higher Education.

I am sure that is because few military slugs try to become educated.
