I don't have an opinion either way on NCU but I wouldn't say that being in the bottom 50% of the list makes it a "top school".

I'd have to agree. In comparison the CC I graduated from, Tidewater CC, ranks 2815th.

The Webometrics methodology is even more laughable than that of most rankings. I think it can be safely disregarded. (Not that I think Northcentral is a bad school. Or a great school for that matter.)

Completely. Liberty U ranked just above the US Naval Academy. Now, I think Liberty is pretty good, but it's nowhere NEAR Annapolis-level.

Yeah, I think any ranking that places an Ivy League school (Brown) at #103 isn't very credible.

Still wouldn't trust NCU with my dry cleaning, let alone my education.

(subtitled: who makes a top 12000 list anyway? That's like ranking mediocrity in little increments.)

The webometrics rankings are designed to rank a school's web presence, not overall quality:

    20% Web size
    15% Rich files
    15% Google scholar
    50% Link visibility
Ranking Web of World universities: About the Ranking

Not saying NCU is not a quality school, I'm sure that it is.

Also, webometrics is the only website I can think of with a .info address that isn't a scam or total junk.

I don't trust rankings in general but if we're going to take this thing at face value and you've asked the question,"How does that sound?" I'd say it sounds like Northcentral is a fourth tier RA school in the USA. Nothing to be ashamed of but nothing to brag about either.

That is totally rude, prejudiced and unfair! I have my dry cleaning done there regularly and they do a great job!

I am not sure why I am stuck on Al madinah International U. Anyway it was ranked 6905. For less than $10,000 a PHD it is difficult to argue against these schools. Based on the Ranking, University of south Africa is still a great deal, ranking at 1221. Stellenbosch ranks at 540 with a distance PHD in finance. why spend $50k plus, when you can have a world ranked Phd for under $10k?

I thought their dry cleaning was a self-paced program :salook:

No, I don't get the punchline either but for some reason the :salook: makes it funny to me.

I think nobody would argue that UNISA is a better school than NCU but the main issue seems to be bias and prejudice.

If you live in the US, it would be very hard to explain why you decided to go all the way to Africa for your doctorate. NCU, on the other hand, sounds like any no name University in the US so it won't be questioned unless you decide to go for a tenure track position.

They do a fine job with cleaning...but the service sucks and they just raised the prices...again.

I prepared a rank based on the webometrics system for online american schools and the results make sense to me besides UoP that should be at the bottom

    1 Nova (655)
    2 Walden (2455)
    3 University of Phoenix (2615)
    4 Capella (3861)
    5 Sullivan University (4475)
    6 Devry University (4,581)
    7 Argosy (4810)
    8 Northcentral University (6,427)
    9 Jones International University(7523)
    10 TUIU (Trident) (9535)

I am not bashing NCU, but it looks like mgmt is trying its hardest to put ncu out of business.

Hmm. Nova Southeastern, Phoenix, Sullivan, DeVry, and Argosy aren't online schools, they all have campuses. If you're going to include them you need to consider a lot of other schools that offer programs on campus and online, and nowadays that's just about everyone.
