I don't know if one would call this a renaming or just a "naming", but in any case Frederick Taylor University is now touting the formation of the "Michael Gerber School of Business": Programs Offered At FTU Michael Gerber School of Business – Frederick Taylor University

This strikes me as odd because of who the school is named after and the fact that they have only ever offered business degrees. So "Frederick Taylor University Michael Gerber School of Business" just sounds a bit redundant, but I suppose it may help with marketing the program and what have you.

I note the school is now under the ownership of something called "The Vine Branches Transformation Co." Maybe part of the "transformation" will be the offering of degrees in other fields. At any rate, some changes will be necessary in the next few years. I've heard that all BPPE-approved degree-granting schools will have to become accredited or lose approval by a certain deadline - 2019, 2020? I forget exactly.

I believe the head of The Vine Branches Transformation Co. is named Tu Anh Truong. I think its purpose is something to do with promoting entrepreneurship. Vine branches and transformation seems to have a Gospel ring to it, somehow - but what does the heathen / infidel Johann know about religion?

I remember 1-2 years ago, another BPPE-approved business school was sold to a new owner, who immediately started offering some religious degrees. The school ended up going out of business - not for the religious degrees, but due to a different BPPE infraction, for which the school failed to pay a $5,000 fine. I'm not suggesting FTU will either offer religious degrees or run afoul of the BPPE. I wish them every success.

Whatever the new owners do, I hope it works out. If it closed (God forbid) I'd miss the California FTU. The long-shuttered Hawaii Branch -- not so much.

Oops! FTU is STILL ON THE BPPE APPROVED LIST. They must have met requirements. My bad.
