Wonder if he can last longer than 34 days...

    (1) He's wealthy. And smart. He earned it as an investment banker. . He and Mrs. own 4 homes - multi-million dollar homes.
    (2) His father-in-law is a billionaire.
    (3) He was implicated in BoJo's "party during lockdown" scandal.
    (4) He has a US green card and used it (legally) to avoid UK tax on millions of pounds.

UK is lurching from one financial crisis to another. I don't think Mr. Sunak is the ideal guy to help the average Brit, upon whom the country's problems always devolve. He doesn't need good luck to stay in the job - he needs fantastic luck.

    Here are their homes: https://www.homesandgardens.com/news/rishi-sunak-property-portfolio

He and Mrs. Sunak are said to have wealth amounting to 730 million pounds. He worked as an analyst for Goldman Sachs from 2001 to 2004 and after that, worked for two hedge funds, before entering politics.

    * "He used his green card to (legally) avoid taxes ...." That's a pretty broad statement - but that's what the press said. Not his personal taxes - his wife's. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/apr/08/rishi-sunak-akshata-murty-us-green-cards

Yes, the inflation problem is a worldwide problem. The Brits blame their PM for it just like US citizens blame our President for it. Now if Mr. Sunak can bring inflation under control in the next couple of weeks then he will definitely last longer than 34 days. (Just a joke like the 50% / 50% joke. He has a 50/50 chance of survival but only a 10% chance at that.)

Next couple of weeks? That's a tall order, Bill.

Prices have outpaced wages there for well over 70 years. Maybe since the Norman Conquest (1066) for all I know. My folks left in 1951-52. In UK today, a similar job to my Dad's (skilled machinist) now pays an average of 53 times what he earned then, and it's still not enough. It takes 12 years of that gross salary (26,500 pounds yr.) to buy the average English house. I shudder to think how many years it would take to buy the average house in London. Roman Abramovich and "Oleg the Oligarch" (a nonexistent guy I joke about) might know.

Mr. Sunak is supposed to stop that cold in 2 weeks? He'll need more than good luck. The Heavens will have to open, and after a Blinding Flash, there'll have to be a Sonorous, Deep-voiced Proclamation. From You-Know-Who.

I'm an Atheist. I'm betting against that.

Not only a tall order but an impossible order. Please read my parenthetical statement in that post. Sorry for the bad joke.

I did - after I replied. Not that bad a joke... I've told far worse. :) We'll see how it goes. I'm just glad I'm watching from here (Canada).
