that's National American University, not Northern Arizona University National American University Holdings, Inc. Announces Plans to Acquire Strategic Security-Focused Henley-Putnam University - NASDAQ.com
Henley-Putnam was until recently a Candidate with WASC. WASC's website indicates that it voluntarily withdrew from candidacy on July 17. Perhaps the idea is that a merger with NAU will extend NAU's existing HLC accreditation to Henly-Putnam. (The Monterey Institute of International Studies resigned its long-standing WASC accreditation when it merged with Middlebury and was included in Middlebury's NEASC accreditation.) Henley Putnam has a rather unique market niche. I'm a little concerned that merging with NAU may obscure that.
I just spoke with the senior admissions advisor for H-PU, and she confirmed that they will become regionally accredited with this merger. They will be keeping the Henley-Putnam name, but it will be lengthened to H-P School of Strategic Studies, National American University....or something like that. She also said they will keep their tuition prices the same....for now anyway, and they will start accepting Federal financial aid in Feb 2018. The DSS program is very appealing, and I was considering applying when they only had DEAC accreditation. Regional accreditation makes it even more appealing.
