The problem with the search terms NA and RA is that our search engine automatically rejects any word three letters or shorter. Perhaps one could use the terms "nationally accredited" and "regionally accredited."

Cook DeRosa: I still love you, even if you do think that guys with too many degrees are likely unmarriageable. By the way, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. As much difficulty as I have with my still-living septugenarian parents (mostly over the fact that, at age 47, I've costed my parents too much money for too darn long), my mother quite often tells me of how traumatic it was for her to lose her mother when she was only twenty-four. At any rate, I hope your hubby can find a good MBA in Hospitality Management that'll take his NA undergrad.

You might be thinking of this old thread over at degreeboard: http://www.degreeboard.com/forums/Distance-Educational-Discussionsf42/permanent-detc-to-ra-degree-acceptance-t975.

EDIT: That having been said, every time this list gets mentioned, somebody's sure to jump up and down and yell about how there's some sort of inadequacy built into the list. I have, however, never received an adequate explanation of the alleged inadequacies in the list.

Gosh Ted, you say the sweetest things, thanks :)

Should your hubby desire to continue his education beyond the MBA degree, Iowa State University www.iastate.edu offers what is, to the best of my knowledge, the only dhort-residency PhD in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Dr. Bear says that the summer residencies are a good excuse for Iowa State University to get some low-cost kitchen help in the summer terms.

I did not realize that it had been about two years since then http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27185 and, indeed, the comment dates from August 24, 2007. The comment was made about a guy with three bachelor's degrees, two master's degrees, and two doctorates who was teaching kintergarten (and probably acquiring new debt at warp speed).

That would be a clear winner if they didn't specifically state "Regionally accredited bachelor degree" and charge $1000 per credit!

Well, that DL MBAs sticky thread has made it as far as DL MBAs From the Great State of Michigan and, sad to say, but it looks like online master's degrees in hospitality management are rather sparse.

That's ok, I appreciate all the work you put into those threads. I'm still considering Shawn's advice about generalizing in management- my husband obviously will make the decision, but I have more time and interest in compiling a list for him. Actually, he really liked the look of the vegas program- the fact of it being an MS rather than an MBA takes out the math, stats, and business core- replacing it with industry specific courses. That is what sold him on the bachelor program he is finishing now. I know they want an RA undergrad, but I think I am going to suggest he apply and see. He has a 4.0 (one class to go) and a lot of experience, so maybe they would make an exception.

Still building a list, so keep the ideas coming.

PS I love the Hariot Watt program and the Guelph programs, but he vetoed anything outside of the USA.

Hey, here's a NA to RA MBA guy. I thought I would chime in with nothing to add other than I am a person that went this route.

    Jen,

Might I suggest taking a look at Get Educated's Best Buys in Management/Administration:

    http://www.geteducated.com/online-college-ratings-and-rankings/best-buy-lists/best-buy-online-masters-management-administration

Again, with your husband's experience, I would urge him to apply even if the school states they won't take an NA Bachelors Degree. School can and do make exceptions to policy all the time. It sounds like the NA degree is the perfect fit for his current job - so he'll have to explain this to the right person, but a couple of phone calls should work.

    Good luck!

    Shawn
