    Congratulations Paul,

    You have been an inspiration.
I also completed a MBA at ISIM University and now a Ph.D. learner at Capella University. I should be completing my course-work in December and starting my comprehensives in January 2003.
My experiences at ISIM and Capella have been great.

    Michael.

I still am very much involved in the technical and management side of GIS, as well as managing the development lifecycle of other decision support systems such as Document Management, Knowledge Management, and Data Warehousing.

I also teach a few courses, primarily in database development and systems analysis.

My immediate plans are to enjoy the extra time I have. I already do some teaching online and will continue that. I have a couple of books in me that I hope to write. I have a few professional aspirations that I will be chasing down with no particular urgency.

I don't know if I would categorize it as more difficult, perhaps more taxing is a better way to put it. It was difficult and it was often frustrating. It was mostly just a thing that was always there, never ceasing, always in my head. If I wasn't working on it I felt I should have been. I was constantly thinking of the content and whether I was embracing the subject adequately to consider myself adequately intellectually immersed. I was always questioning whether I knew enough or should I go just a little further in the review of literature. Mainly, it was a thing that was always there and would never offer much respite from either working on it or thinking about it.

For me, it was a pretty consuming exercise and one that I am not interested in repeating. Still, an exercise that, once completed, offers terrific satisfaction.

    Michael,

Good to see another ISIM grad make good. You may know, I am not the first ISIM grad to complete an RA doctorate program. The first was Dr. Bender, over a year and a half ago.

All the best to you in your program.

    Paul

Paul, my congratulations as well on the achievement. Now please enlighten me. Either I am a very cursory reader, and just missed it, or you didn't say so: what the heck field were you pursuing at the master's level, and what at the doctoral level?
And could you spell out "ISIM" for a newcomer?
    Thanks.

    Peter,

I have an MS in Information Management and my PhD is in Education with a specialty in Instructional Design.

ISIM University used to be known as The International School of Information Management.

    Paul,

As a doctoral candidate, I am very aware of the tenacity and effort you placed into completing this degree. This is especially true considering the fact that the doctoral program you completed relied heavily upon your inner resources to a greater extent than traditional doctoral programs.

Your accomplishment is awesome and I wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.

    Sincerely,

    Simon

    Simon,

Thank you for your positive words. What program are you pursuing, what school are you with, and how far into it are you?
