Sure, a well proven formula. Negotiate "peace" with an aggressor nation's dictator at the expense of the aggressor's victim but don't include that victim in the negotiations. What could possibly go wrong?

This would be a great "Isn't there someone you forgot to ask?" meme.

Trump has always been a surrender monkey.

Munich Agreement 1938 celebration time! Peace assured! To best follow history I suggest that Trump and Putin meet in Munich. Oh wait Putin could be arrested. How about Moscow instead of Saudi Arabia? You know to follow the super successful Munich Agreement path as closely as possible. When Trump returns home with a paper signed only by him and Putin then Trump can wave it in the air for his historical photo!

The most infuriating thing about it to me is cutting off NATO membership to Ukraine. Although I suspect that Trump will let Putin have whatever land he claims even if he's not occupying it. That would also be extremely infuriating

    It's going to get worse.

Lindsay Graham actually came up with a potential good plan. At least far better than Trump’s current plan of no NATO membership for Ukraine. That was no NATO membership unless Russia attacks Ukraine again then automatic immediate NATO membership.

IIRC, NATO will not admit a nation whose territory is being actively occupied by a belligerent nation. I believe this is due to Article 5, which states that an attack on one NATO member is an attack on all, and all must come to its aid. Thus, NATO would be immediately entering into an armed conflict with Russia.

For Ukraine to be admitted to NATO, hostilities have to cease and either the Russians withdaw or Ukraine cedes the land the Russians occupy.

Yeah, Senator Graham...he rarely strikes me as someone who knows what the hell he's doing.

Well they would have to come up with new rules for membership in any case. In order to do this they would have to come up with a new category, Membership Nation, Not a Member Nation, and Protected Not a Member Nation. Is it going to happen? Unlikely but I'm an optimist and can hope that they do something. It's a very sad situation due in part to our US President being who he is.

As a demonstration of how stupid I can be in my optimism, I actually thought up until a few days ago that Trump was just blowing smoke and wasn't being serious about Canada, Greenland, Gaza and Panama.

It is good to be optimistic. But Trump was/is always serious in his threats and musings, as much as a person with malignant narcissism and dementia can be.
