Speaking of misuse of curtain rods: http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/ex-nuncio-accuses-pope-francis-of-failing-to-act-on-mccarricks-abuse https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2018/08/what-francis-knew https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2018/08/26/viganos-accusations-what-we-know-and-what-questions-they-raise Admittedly it's just allegations at this point. But coming on the heels of the Pennsylvania grand jury report, it certainly fits a pattern that may extend all across the church, right up to the highest levels of the Vatican.

Judgement must first begin in the Church (1 Peter 4:17). Sexual corruption in the Church is nothing new. Here is a long article that shows how it was handled in the 11th Century: https://www.americamagazine.org/issue/534/article/11th-century-scandal However, corruption in the Church actually began when the Lord Jesus appointed Judas Iscariot to be a ministry leader (John 6:70). Today, the sheep and the goats freely mingle together, but it will not be that way forever. The goats will eventually be separated from the sheep (Matthew 25:31-46).
and then here's something especially stupid http://friendlyatheist.patheos.com/2018/08/29/catholic-league-priests-deserve-credit-for-the-sex-abuse-they-didnt-commit/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark
I've heard it said that confession is good for the soul http://theweek.com/articles/793022/catholic-church-must-confess-sins-all
SteveFoerster, if you're suggesting that Judas Iscariot committed his sins in secret -- and that sinners today commit their sins in secret -- yes Steve, you are correct. Judas was also the treasurer, which was very convenient for a dishonest and secretive thief.
Ted Heiks, the Blood of Jesus washes away all sins of genuinely repentant sinners. No sin is more powerful than the Blood of Jesus.
The senior Roman Catholic leadership that has been allowing (or fostering) homosexuality for the last 100+ years will pay dearly throughout their eternity. This appears to be a systemic global issue because senior Roman Catholic Church leadership is infected with homosexuality and is subsequently unwilling (or unable?) to "clean house." The Lord will judge those in leadership positions the hardest because they have the ability to influence so many souls for all eternity. Fathers Diego Berrio, 39, and Edwin Giraldo Cortez, 30 (arrested for having sex with each other in public) Full story and video: https://miami.cbslocal.com/2018/09/04/priests-arrested-miami-beach-sex-acts-in-car/
Actually, both were arrested for lewd and lascivious behavior, but only one for indecent exposure. Which, at least, tells us who was doing what to whom. Now, if me again would spend only half as much time on his degree program as he spends on telling us about Trump and now priestly sex, he would graduate twice as fast.

I’m not Catholic, but living in the Boston area, I had a front row seat to this whole putrid affair unfolding. Cardinal Bernard Law should have been indicted, tried, and sent to prison for his massive coverup of sexual abuse by priests. Likewise, Tom Reilly (Massachusetts AG at the time) should have been charged, or at least removed from office for completely ignoring the situation after the roof was blown off. Law should have lived out his final years in a prison cell, not in luxurious retirement in the Vatican. Again, I’m not Catholic, but I think a huge step towards addressing this would be for priests to be allowed to marry (which I think will happen in my lifetime). Of course, Protestant Ministers & Jewish Rabbis get caught up in sex scandals every now and again, but they usually land in the glue for extramarital affairs, hiring call girls, things like that. Very rarely do you hear of them systematically raping children over a period of years.
