Does anyone know of a Middle Eastern University that does Islamic studies by distance learning (either grad oir undergrad)?

I am currently doing an MTH in Islamic Studies (Missiology) through the University of Stellenbosch in SA and having a great time with it. However, it is more for my curiosity that I am asking...just for the sake of knowing.

I tried to google a few things and turned up nothing.

Thanks for any info you have!

    There seems to be two:

    2. U - Wales / Lampeter -- two lecturers

Thanks for the reply Haggai12. I have seen those programs before. However, I have not found any where the programs are run out of Middle Eastern universities, say like University of Kuwait or somewhere like that.

You might try contacting the relevant department chairs at institutions that interest you, explain the situation, and ask whether you can remotely do a degree by research.

It would be particularly cool if you could interest Al-Azhar University, since they're the world's oldest operating university.

    Open Universities..

    Did a little more research.....

You might try Anadolu University -- Turkey..... reportedly, the largest open, or DEd school in the world (some 760,000 students).

I also looked at the Israeli open university, but they do not seem to offer either doctoral studies, or Islamic studies.

Open U of Malaysia might be another possibility.

This will be a tough nut to crack.
