So, Andy Jack U only requires 400/semester to take courses? I'm not sure if this is the deal you have with them or not. I've read such on the forum, though. How is that 400 paid? Is it to the school or the marketing partner? I think I'm not certain how the whole deal works for this tuition free program. Does anyone have any information on it?

Congrats on getting started in the program.

I'm looking at the MPA but I've been repeating to myself over and over "I don't NEED it, I don't NEED it, I don't NEED it"....

Good luck and keep us posted.

You are no crazier than a number of other people on this board! Not sure if that provides you any comfort. In any event, let's provide updates and push each other through this program.

The degree is paid for through their advertizing alliances. I'm not sure how it all works. I think that others here can explain it better than I.

    Bing,

The $400 can be paid in 4 equal monthly payments (for a 16 week course) and do not forget the $30 proctor fee for each course.

Do a search on this forum for "Go to College For Free? Sort of" it will provide you with answers to your questions or contact "Jmorgan-at-AJU" by Private Message (PM).

    I hope this helps.

What do you think a feller's chance of jumping into a Federal job is after a degree like this is completed?

I'm not sure how much, if any, it would help you get a job. I work for the Federal Govt and I have a BA in English! A master's degree can help you get a higher pay grade. For my job I could've started at a GS-9 level rather than a GS-7, which would've been about $6000 more. Have you checked out http://www.usajobs.gov?

If I were you, I'd head over to AJU and take advantage of the long weekend.
I'm starting the MBA program 9/1 and checked Friday to see if the courses were listed. Sure enough I've got access and am already through the first section of two courses. Get to work!!!:D

I have checked the usajobs.gov site, and for each job I checked they require a "degree from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education". That would seem to imply NA degrees are just fine and could help in obtaining a government job.

I do not have any text books yet.

Where did you do your shopping?

By the way, send me a message over there. I am the guy from New Braunfels.

I ordered mine used from Amazon and Abes Books and after paying for expedited shipping still ended up saving more than 60%. In each course, AJU provides a link to the PowerPoint slides so I think that you can begin previewing the material until your books arrive. I'm in the MBA, not MPA program, but I will check to see if we are taking courses together.

So far so good, my Ethics and Business Communications professor (MBA and PhD from Michigan State and a great deal of real world experience), is providing great and timely feedback. If the other professors are even close to him, this is the greatest education bargain ever. OK maybe not the greatest ever, but it is very encouraging.:)

After looking over my course work I can tell you that AJU is definitely legitimate. Not just DETC accredited, but a real true graduate school with work required to earn a degree.

One class has a 3800 word research paper and lots of work to get done.

I'm really excited and pleased that I decided to go forward with this degree program.

I kind of figured it would be about like that.

Never was a doubt in my mind that they were legitimate, just unknown and with a few alternatives to finance the education. I can say they are true innovators, and taking advantage of the resources available to make education more than affordable, since technology has close gaps and reduces cost for operations. So far the setting of the coursework is very well organized and really challenging. I can tell you that in this one I will take my time to finish.

Most of my shopping is done with abebooks, sometimes ebay, and allbookstore.com

Just wondering, do you plan on earning an MBA from every program available? :) Seriously, why do you have/need/want so many degrees?
