    All,

I have been grappling with this desire to pursue doctoral work. I've weighted the post that I have read and have done some strong self-analysis to determine if I should move forward. My occupation is in operations, but my advocation, my passion is in education.

I'm not sure I want to pursue a business degree at the doctoral level. I'd consider moving forward with a degree in leadership or in management, but a DBA doesn't necessarily get me very excited. I do find the topic of education and leadership quite interesting as I'd like to transition one day to an full-time administrative positon, but still teaching undergrad business courses.

Is it difficult to make the switch from one subject area to another? How is it perceived by those in the hiring roles when an applicant has the ability to teach in two different areas? My undergrad degree is in science education and my graduate work is in business administration and a second masters in project management.

I look forward to your feedback.

What about an EdD in educational leadership or administration?

Rich Douglas has an MBA from National University and a PhD in Nontraditional Higher Education from the Union Institute & University. You might PM him if he doesn't show up on this thread.

I would say as long as you have experience in all subjects you would be seen as an asset. I have the credits and exprience to teach IT and business management and one class from teaching healthcare admin. I think it just gives you and the employer more options.

How about an MBA and then a PhD in education from the University of Nebraska's program as a springboard to being the director of an MBA program? Might be a way to fulfill all of your interests!

I'd consider a move to complete the MBA/ EdD/PhD as a way to step into a role as director of MBA programs or director of accelerated degree programs.

I've been looking at Liberty University's EdD in Higher Education as a possibility.
