I just graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor in Econ/Finance. I am considering where to go for my MBA. I am considering two schools.. Northeastern and Boston U. I know both programs are pricey but I am in the military and have my G.I. Bill and tuition assistance. I am just trying to choose a good school with good name recognition but do not want to be as associated with online programs such as AMU or Phoenix. If there are any other schools that would be good I look forward to inputs. Also I need the program all-online. I know there is a sticky about MBA programs but I am just looking for personal advice on this. After I finish my 20 years in the military my plan is to enter the financial world. Thank you for any advice with this!! You all have been a great help while I have been pursuing my degree.
BU has a fantastic program. I considered them heavily during my search, but I wasn't aware they offered an online program. Idlook at the Univ. Of Florida, Indiana University, Auburn, and if you're military definitely check out Oklahoma State.
No problem. Oklahoma State provides a steep discount for military so it would be a good option for you.
I have a BS from BU's School of Management and a MS from BU's Metropolitan College, so I keep an eye on the BU programs and threads. While BU offers the MBA part time from the School of Management, I think AUTiger is right that they don't offer it online. They do offer a MS in Management from Metropolitan College online. While I feel all of the programs at BU are going to be regarded as reputable degrees from a strong university, the MBA from the School of Management is certainly going to be considered more prestigious than the MET program. Additionally, the programs will also be taught by different professors. While this is subjective, I would personally rank the BU MBA over the Northeastern MBA for prestige and value, but both MBA's considerably ahead of the MS. On the other hand, I think the MET degree is considerably cheaper and shorter than the MBAs.
You might consider the Univ. System of Georiga's WebMBA. It's fully online, gotten some solid press, and I have some colleagues that have participated in it and been very pleased. The consortium schools are all solid B&M regional schools with with Kennesaw State being the rising star. It is AACSB-accredited as well. Georgia WebMBA® : Home
IU's MBA via Kelly Direct and UMASS Isenberg School of Management MBA might also be good considerations.
Thanks for all the great replies.. I might consider IU or UMass... you are right that BU doesn't offer a MBA online... so I guess I will look at IU, UMass, and Northeastern.. I am just worried about the GMAT!!
I'm studying the GMAT for that very reason. I hope that OK State's instructional methods will not be as disappointing as my last program.
