    Hello...
I'm thinking about pursuing Masters in Information Systems.I am not worried about DETC/RA acceredition....
1.Can anyone sugguest me some good universites that provide MSIS/MSCS degrees that are online and affordable.
2.I happen to take a look at the Aspen University.Any comments about the university?
3.Looks like the MSIS course is newly introduced(few weeks) for online mode at Aspen. Is it safe to go for this brand new degree?

I'm thinking twice before making a decision. Does anybody have an idea about this course? Is there anybody in this forum who has signed up for this course. I heard that the same course was offered at campus earlier. Any comments about that.? Please respond ASAP.

    Thanks in advance

If you happen to live in Texas, then Tarleton State University (TX) has a cheaper program ($125/sem hr) than Aspen and it is regionally accredited. Also, Dakota State University (SD) has a comparable tuition rate at $228.55/sem hr and it is regionally accredited as well. Lastly, another program that is somewhat more expensive but still a good deal is Bellevue University (NE) costing $310/sem hr.

Don't make the mistake of underestimating how important regional accreditation is. Some employers make a point of only recognizing degrees having such accreditation.

The programs I listed above where all in Information Systems. Some affordable computer science master degrees include: Mississippi State University at $200/sem hr and if you live in Florida, either the University of Florida or Florida Atlantic University have tuition rates the the $200-$300/sem hr range.

The MSIS degree at Aspen University seems very vocational in that it trains the student to use very specific technologies. This form of training while seemingly valuable in the short term will become obsolete very quickly. Programs that cover broad topics, concepts and theory have lasting usability. However, if you don't have any experience in software development or programming perhaps a degree that targets a specific technology will help you get your foot in the door.
