    Good afternoon all,
I was wondering if someone can help me. I am looking to work as a social worker in the public schools (in NJ) in some capacity - child study team, guidance, counseling, etc.

Can anyone recommend to me a fully ONLINE Masters in Social Work program for the lowest cost per masters program?

    Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your quick reply. I just had a few follow-up questions if you wouldn't mind answering:

    1) From that master's list of online programs, do you know which ones would be the lowest cost?

    2) Do you know which public school jobs would be available with the Master's in Social Work?

    3) Do you know what the Master's Degree program would be for counseling and guidance for public schools?

    Thank you again!

You meed a master's degree in school counseling. If you want to become a school psychologist, then you'll need a master's or EdS in school psychology. The requirements vary by state, but you might have to start as a teacher before you can qualify for a school counseling position. School psychologists can usually jump right into to school psychology after completing their internship and passing their licensing exam.

Edit: I found the New Jersey requirements.

    Check this list:

Also, check out Lamar University's online M.Ed. in Counseling and Development with a Specialization in Professional School Counseling - tuition is $16, 500. https://degree.lamar.edu/programs/master-of-education-in-counseling-development-professional-school-counseling.aspx

Two things - I don't track costs of these programs. First, there are only a few MSW programs on the list. It would take you maybe 15 minutes to run through the websites to check costs.
Second, you appear to be in the very early stages of this process. The three professions you've listed actually have fairly large, distinct differences in regards to their actual job descriptions, even in the context of a public school system. Do some more research. You need to refine your goal a bit more. You need to think more carefully about what you actually want to do and then compare that to real job descriptions. Then you'll know which degree to pursue.
