    I'm a current AMU/APU student.

I actually just got done writing a 20 page paper today - this is graduate level. I'm not sure how it is at the undergrad level, but I have been pleased with the level of rigor and quality of instruction in my program (MS Space Studies). I also like that you can complete classes quickly, since most of them are 8 weeks long.

I've been attending using federal student loans and have not had much trouble navigating that process.

So I don't think you can go wrong with AMU/APU.

We had some fun on the other thread, but think about it for real. Ask 800 people on the street if they have even heard of APU and 20 will say yes. 19 of them will have mistaken them for another school entirely and 1 will actually know what you are talking about. If you gather 800 of the ones who know of APU, maybe 20 will know about its affiliation with Walmart. 19 of them would have misunderstood the question and 1 of them would have seen it posted one time on DegreeInfo and seen nothing more about it anywhere.

I am just waiting for Walmart to start running TV ads about this so America will know how great they treat their workers...but in truth you right no one but us will really know to much about it.

Someone with a degree from APU/Walmart is doing a heck of a lot better than me!

Do they? Hey, if I could I would partner with a big business and gain access to 1,000's of instant potenial students.

See if Columbia College offers this degree.

I checked they offer the degree and they have a real campus and it's less expensive than APU. Five 8-week terms per year.

The more I learn of Columbia College, the more I am impressed with them. They aren't just a B&M, they have a 200-year history, a nice ranking on one of the USN&WR lists and an incredibly low tuition. They have sattelite campuses on dozens of millitary bases, have a very high transfer allowance (you only need 24 credits from Columbia to get a degree from them) and will allow up to half of your degree to come from non-traditional means like CLEP, ECE and ALEKS.Their psychology program is much more in-depth than most other colleges (the major requires about 40 credits!).

Even less expensive than that would be the BA in Social Sciences from the University of Wyoming. You pick 4 concentrations (psych, soc, criminal justice, etc.) and need 15 credits in each. $100/credit. It is similar to a General Studies degree, but does have more of a cohesiveness to what you study and can include a psychology component.

Of course, I'm not trying to steer you away from APU, they are a crowning jewel of the online-only colleges, but there are other options if you are still considering them :)

Unless your GF has lots of credit already there are low cost approaches to earning a degree - she could start by earning credits through CLEP or DSST or from low cost tuition colleges then as she approaches 90 units look for a shool to finish her degree at. This could be from one of the big three schools, AMU, or many other universities. The Excelsior BS in Liberal Studies is probably the most flexible DL degree to earn since it allow up to 59 units of professional courses.

Otherwise I understand APU is a good university and reasonable cost.

I like the College Columbia website. It's easy to navigate and lays everything out fairly nice.

I'd like to disagree with these numbers. My bet is this:
If you ask 1000 people about APU, 500 will say they've heard of them ("Didn't they get into the Sweet 16 two years ago") and 498 will be wrong in their identification. The 2 people who actually know something real about APU will know nothing about the connection with Walmart.

Degree of difficulty - - - You can't do the survey in a Walmart parking lot.

Why does that sound like an invented statistic?
