I plan on taking an undergraduate class or two in the fall. This will be for fun and I'm looking for the best available option. I prefer a well-known state or private school and my budget is $325 per hour, but I’ll do $350 for the right school.

I live in Alabama so I need a school with little or no out-of-state fees to stay in budget.

University of Alabama is $312 per credit hour for residents. It's no Auburn but some people like. Most of those people either have 8th grade educations or worship the devil, but if that's your thing...

For only $16 per credit hour more you can go to a much better institution, Auburn University.

No kidding, and what I like best about Auburn is the air tight ship you guys run over there in your football program. National *weed* Champions *robbery** what? of 2010. Turns out Cam was ONLY clean player at that school.

I kid, I kid. My team, Washington State University Cougars, has difficulties with Div 1A opponents.

Here we see a newly committed football player after signing his letter of intent to play for Auburn.

Couple of things. First, the person making those accusations just went to prison for three years. Second, he admitted he had no first hand knowledge of what he was saying, it was hearsay. He also claims all of those things occurred at the same time the NCAA was spending $6million investigating allegations against Auburn. So the NCAA couldn't find anything, but the convicted felon should be taken at his word? Oh, and the article detailing the accusations was written by the same lady that proclaimed the Duke Lacrosse players were guilty and has to now post her journalistic output on her personal blog because no sports publications will employ her.

Oh, and we'll see you September 8th when WSU comes to the Plains for a down home SEC ass whoopin'. WAR DAMN EAGLE!

Poor Auburn. They was on top of the world a few years back.

    What kind of classes?

It seems like University of Oregon was priced somewhere around that, but I might be confusing schools.

Back on topic, and of course its from me so feel free to ignore it as everyone I've ever met pretty much ignores everything I say too (I'm looking at you Wifey!).

Anyway, take it from someone with two BA degree's. Do not. I repeat, do not take any more undergraduate courses. Even if they are for "fun". Take graduate level courses, especially if you have ANY inkling of wanting your Master's. That should help to narrow down your choices. More advice. Attend in person the best school you can, even if it's nights or weekends.

    Good luck!

I'd be all over face-to-face classes if I didn't working a rotating shift.

If you are only interested in the cost but still want a state school you should look at Athens State University:

Athens State University :: Admissions :: Forms

Great little commuter school, one of the oldest in the state. Used to be a great way for folks with technical associates to complete a bachelors degree. Over the years they have begun offering entire degrees. For not much more that one credit at the larger universities you can take an entire class.

Good name recognition in north Alabama.

In addition, University of North Alabama now has an MPS program: Master of Professional Studies Degree | University of North Alabama

Tuition cost vary depending on whether you take business school classes. I could never get a straight answer on the tuition for the business school classes so count on the MBA rates for those courses and the lesser rates for the other courses.

Thanks. I know both schools well. A few of my trade school instructors graduated from Athens, and I was on UNA's campus not long ago.

I was thinking big-name state school when I started this thread, but I'm over that. I've looked at a lot of schools and none of them move me; especially at the price.

With that being said, I like the MPS a lot. I actually considered their BIS for my undergrad.

You might look at Chaudron State. It's not particularly well known, but it's a solid state school with tuition rates well below your budget.

Bellevue University is a non-profit with a ton of offerings. They also have accelerated options if time is important to you. It's also been ranked in the top 10 by US News and World Report (two years in a row) for Student Engagement, including a #1 ranking last year.

Funny how things can change in a couple of days. I went from looking for a state or private school with 16-week classes to signing up with a for-profit (AMU) with 8-week classes.:saroll: The price is good and they offer a lot of classes I want.

    I found my dream program.
