I must say, I am surly entertained... I loved seeing everyone wild up about the fake degree propaganda. It demonstrates how great it is to know honest people who really care about the integrity of education. :)

LOL, that's what we call people who bring up ancient threads. There's nothing wrong with reviving dead threads at all, so feel free to do it, however you may get lightheartedly made fun of occasionally by jerky members (or jerky moderators).

I was doing some contract work for a company once a few years ago and my desk was in the same office as one of the company's hiring manager's (she didn't hire me, she only hired for a different department but that's irrevelant) who was really well-versed on all the matters we discuss here. From time to time she would get some knucklehead applying with one of these fake degrees, but rather than just throw away the application she'd have fun with them. She'd schedule them for interviews and then purposely not be available. The applicant would eventually leave, and after they leave she'd call them up that day or the next and interrogate them as to why they didn't show up. Then she'd schedule them again and keep playing the game until they gave up.

But, one lady in particular stuck with it and showed up 4 times. She was persistent. The HM put her through multiple interviews, had her take a bunch of employment tests (which were optional in this company at the time and only used rarely), had her driving far out to other office sites in other cities to meet with other company authorities, lol. She made this lady believe she was on the fast track, lol. This went on for a long time. Finally, she "hired" the gal on a Friday. The lady showed up on Monday, smiling ear-to-ear, in her best business suit, hair nicely done (honestly, she looked quite hot). She was geared up and ready to take on the world... or so she thought because she never made it to Tuesday...

The HM took her off to what I assume was the cage of fire room. We called it "the cage of fire" because it was a tiny intimidating room where they took everybody who was either in big trouble or getting fired. After that, I never saw the Diploma Mill scammer again.

I asked the HM what the lady's degree was in and she said "She had a Bachelors degree in... OFFICE FILING SCIENCE. So even if her degree were real, you'd still have to ask how dumb someone would have to be to spend 4 years of college learning how to put folders in alphabetical order."

My guess is, the lady didn't know any better that making a custom degree in something like that would by itself arouse suspicion, let alone the fact that it was from a well-known diploma mill.

Yep, that's what Degree Info is all about. It's still relevant even though this thread is a few years old.

I'm not jerky at all, but if I may interject, the reason people might get upset is because with half the front page filled with stickies, any type of old thread bump that doesn't add substance just makes it harder for new threads to get noticed. Just an observation and not at all anything against this thread bump in particular. In other words simply food for thought.:dance::dance::dance::dance:

Yes, we mods do not have the access to remove those stickies or we would have long ago. You might email Chip, or even start a thread as sort of a petition asking to have the stickies removed. I would like to see that happen too.

Oh, I can't say, but the initials TH do come to mind. JK I was actually referring to myself because I was picking on her earlier in the thread.

You might want to look up "necromancy." It's not the same as "necrophilia," which would definitely qualify for an "EW."

I dont like reanimated dead things, either. So ew still applies.
