I have been receiving surveys from Liberty over the past year about satellite campuses and the reasons why I was not interested in attending intensives in Lynchburg, VA. I would love to pursue my doctorate with Liberty, but the travel to and from the school is just too much for me while living in Texas.

It appears that Falwell pulled the trigger and found a location to start up a satellite campus as an experiment. This could be a game changer for me and for others. Dallas is a major travel hub and they are probably getting some pretty nice tax incentives to move this operation to the Lone Star State.

Interesting news. I agree it sounds like a good location -- there's a huge population, plenty of Christians, and like you say it's a travel hub. As a non-profit, though, what tax incentives do they need on top of that?

Excellent point Steve. I remember that in 2009 Rick Perry, the former governor, went to Lynchburg lobbying for Liberty to come over to Texas and set up shop. It draws to the question of what was offered if not tax incentives.

    State specific student grants?

Probably not. WGU Texas students do not get them. State grants in Texas are only given to students at public colleges and universities.

I would love to see Liberty have a satellite campus in Los Angeles. However, I doubt they would because there are already a few Christian universities in this area: Biola; Azusa Pacific; Vanguard University; Hope International University; Life Pacific (not a big one but still within the area).

Well, but I seriously doubt the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex has heretofore been bereft of Christian higher education. But even as a new entrant into a market, I'd think that Liberty's marketing machine would strike fear into the heart of even the longest standing competitor.
