Can anyone here translate this for me? Thanks in advance. Dei optimi maximi, universitatis rerum fontis ac originis ad gloriam
I cannot get into this myself, but you might give this site a try: http://www.translation-guide.com/free_online_translators.php?from=English&to=Latin Also see this for Latin Quotes in general (no pun intended) http://miljokes.com/lqote.html
http://www.levity.com/alchemy/latin/latintrans.html is a beta of a Latin translator. (cannot check it myself as our machines don't allow program downloads). Dei Optimi Maximi would mean something on the lines of God the Greatest and Best http://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/words.exehttp://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/words.exe Is probably better. I think it is something about the university being the fount of all glory,?
"To the glory of God Greatest and Best, the source and origin of all things" [literally, "the universe of things"--possibly the writer means "the physical universe" or "the entire array of things"] Who wrote this? It sounds like a dedication and my guess is it's relatively modern Latin, thought that's only a wild guess.
