Hey, Bruce, when I was shopping around for a program, I noticed something that struck me as odd. I found only ONE Doctor of Criminal Justice degree program (out of Florida somewhere, I think) Is that really the case? I also found lots of Ph.D. programs in Sociology but none in Criminal Justice per se. Are these things so and if so, why?
Sam Houston State University SHSU's College of Criminal Justice has the following: The Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice is designed to produce students of crime and justice who possess a deep and extensive awareness of the body of knowledge in the field of criminal justice and possess the intellectual and methodological skills necessary for the continuing process of discovery and understanding of crime and justice related issues.
Several schools have Doctorate programs in CJ, but nowhere near as many as Sociology. I think the reason for this is that Sociology is basically CJ's "big brother", and CJ hasn't quite moved out of the shadows yet. Off the top of my head, some schools that offer the Ph.D. in CJ/Criminology; SUNY-Albany Rutgers Northeastern Michigan State Florida State UC-Irvine U of Cincinnati Sam Houston State CUNY-John Jay College Temple University University of Pennsylvania
Gosh! I hope you're not suggesting I'm a Con! Sorry, I forgot to put "Insert tongue-in-cheek smiley here" in my "flip-flops" post!
Well, the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive, you know, and, oh, by the way, I believe that the technically correct terminology for that would be "Machiavellian."
You know, that Theresa Heinz Kerry is one gutsy lady. During the campaign she said, "I don't believe in killing a man for unfaithfulness, just wounding him!" Now imagine if she had been Theresa Heinz Clinton! Eh?
I am sure everyone on here knows I am not John Kerry fan. However, he is a very intelligent man. So is Bush. Bush likes to play "Columbo" because he has the advantage that way. One's grades in undergrad school really don't refect one's intelligence. As I said, my last two years at Delta State saw me pull a 3.00 GPA. My first two years are Itawamba Community (FKA Jr.) College, were not that spectacular. However, three years after graduating from Delta State, I was able to pull a 3.5 GPA in (accredited) grad school and last year pulled a 3.4 at CCHS and am currently maintaining a 4.00 GPA at FLET. In jr. college I received a "C" in speech. Yet, since entering the ministry 23 year's ago, I have always been in demand as a speaker at both private and public functions. Go figure!
Being intelligent Kerry was portrayed as an intellectual and Bush as an idiot with little or no evidence to back either up. My point is that the facts which were used to indict Bush apply to Kerry as well.....
Careful! You might make our good buddy Abner spit that good Sam Adams beer all over his computer and/or all over his dog!
So they both got a "D" in a science course!!!!! It would be interesting to see what their grades were for all their math & science courses.
Ted, can you explain to me what you meant by this? Keep in mind I'm a new memeber, please. Consequently, I barely know anyone.
Sorry! Inside joke! To get a better understanding, read the political thread on convicts (including rapists) getting free Viagra. It is here: http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19630
He he he! Hey Ted, I noticed something funny! Ever since that Beer spray incident, My dog Nikita lays done behind my desk chair while I am on the computer. Especially if she hears me start to chuckle! He he he! P.S. Welcome aboard JOI! See ya, Abner
Gore's grades were also average In searching for detailed grade results for Bush/Kerry I came accross this article on Gore's academic record: http://quest.cjonline.com/stories/031900/gen_gorepost.shtml
There are few things I think are less relevant in life than undergraduate grades. My father-in-law, a professor of accounting and international business, has noticed this. One of his most successful students ever, who's now at the helm of a fair-sized corporation and is, of course, a millionaire many many times over, was just a "C" student. The later developments surprised my father-in-law, I remember him telling me: "You just can't tell by the grades..." Mr "C" student now has the "A" students working for him, referring to him as "Mr. So-and-So, sir". He probably hides them away in some back room where they won't do much damage.
