    Dennis:

You started this! I tried to make a joke out of saying
    Naaa I probably "want".

I misspelled "allot". I am guilty. Who else has done this? I am not an apologist for KW. If you can't see that from my post then you are an ass, and a fool. When I am on KW's pub I get attacked from the KW cheerleaders as being a degreeinfo invader, and when I come here I am a KW apologist. I guess the truth is in the middle. I think you are both wrong. It seems here if you are student, or graduate of KW you are scum, and at KW if you are critical of the school you are scum. I think you both need to change. Bruce, Mark, and Jeff made their points without being an ass. You obviously qualified yourself as one when you started this. I think you need to walk it off, or grow up.

  2. Whew. Okay. Let me try to retrace my steps.
    1. I observe that k5fk uses "allot" for "a lot."
    2. I observe that plscott uses "allot" for "a lot."
    3. I think: "Hey! That's kind of unusual-- two guys with an interest in the same obscure institution on an obscure board using the same unusual misspelling. What are the odds?"
    4. I post to that effect.

On re-read, I agree that "apologist" is probably inaccurate. For that, *I* apologize.

As to departing from my usual habit of *not* commenting on spelling errors? Feel free to think me an ass, but don't expect me to lose sleep. I still think it's an unusual coincidence.

    Fair?

Guys, debate is fine and most welcome (even heated debate), but let's not resort to name-calling, okay?

As stated above by Dennis himself " tends to make one look like an obnoxious ass" well I just simply agreed that it makes him look that way to me. I do not know who the other guy is that spelled "allot" wrong, but I am one person. I think the administrator can attest that I signed on here once.

I should not have responded to you in the first place, but I tried to end it in a light hearted way by joking. I am in a situation where I am not thrilled with KW, but I also think some here go a little to far with their criticism. KW is substandard, and you will not have me argue otherwise. To say that KW is a bought degree is something I will argue about. Real work goes into the degree though the work is clearly less than at an accredited school. As noted above in my description of my experience with KW my problem is not with the work, or the fact that KW is unaccredited. My problems are with the things KW did not tell me that I found out later.

I believe this forum could use some instruction in civility and manners. If people would stick to the subject at hand, and stay away from using spelling mistakes or other side issues as part of the method of enhancing their own position matters might go more smoothly. I am in fact one person and I don't appreciate Dennis Madarang bringing me into his dispute with someone else. If the regulars on this forum refuse to step forward, and stop the attacks this forum will never grow past the few regular posters present. Over 4000 members, and look at the few pitiful numbers voting in the poll. This forum should be about the exchange of information and the different view points of the members, and not about personal attacks. If you must make your point by attacking the other person then your argument is weak to start with. As to you Dennis, I would like for you to explain your attack on me. Your problem was with Plscott, and since you started this problem with me, I deserve to hear your explanation as to the attack.

Is this a private fight, or can anybody join in?

I don't vote in polls because for some reason when I vote it doesn't work. Not that I care much.

Perhaps the reason, k5fk, for the relative lack of response is the assault on this site, which has been making it hard to get through.

Anyway, the more commonly observed error is to use "alot", rather than "allot". "A lot" is two words, not one. Perhaps some think alot and allot are misspellings of one another. If so, that rather misses the point.

Also, it's Kelsey GrammEr, but English GrammAr.

Before the snarkiness begins, I neither remember nor care who said "alot", "allot", or "grammer". I cast no aspersions on those who did.

    Go in peace.

    KFSK:

I hate to continue the "snarkiness", but have you noticed the tactics of some here. If you disagree in the least with them, and do not join their bandwagon of RA or no way.

First, attack you for a spelling error, or "grammer" (grammar) issue.

Second, accuse you of either being someone your not, or attacking this web site. I am glad Chip let everyone know they were doing maintenance, or you or I surely would have shut the site down yesterday. No wait, RJT is surely the one doing this(just kidding RJT).

Look, I have learned a lot <--- here, but some of this seems so childish. You can find spelling and grammar problems on just about every board here, even the Mensa board who are the elite as far as intelligence is concerned. I tended to lean to math, and science, and hated english, literature, and humanities. I will surely make many more mistakes that have nothing to do with discussing the subject at hand. I hope the elite spelling police will overlook my errors, but if not oh well.

Oh yea, has any of this caused KW to change? No they are sitting back counting money, and laughing at degreeinfo petty arguments, and KW students.

  10. See above. It's the same explanation for both of you, whether you'd like to call it an "attack" or an observation.

I hope that you don't honestly believe this. This is only true if you define intelligence as the ability to score well on a given IQ test. IQ tests are interesting, but they are flawed instruments at best. It seems an arbitrary (and bizarre, to me) thing to base an organization upon, and while the Mensa membership probably includes some very bright people, it certainly doesn't define the intellectual "elite" of our society. I personally score at the extreme high end of these tests, but I don't believe that it really says much, if anything, about me as a human being. There is more to intelligence than any existing exam can possibly measure, and there are aspects of humanity that I consider much more important than intelligence.

Now look here. When I mentioned the assault on the site I was alluding to the computerized bombardment of the site by some mill operators, which has recently made it difficult for many of us to post. Nobody on this thread was accused of attacking the site. Cripes. Can't I leave you kids alone any more?

It was not an observation, but an attempt to gain advantage in a debate by attacking the person rather than the idea. A debate I wasn't even in. It was between you, and Plscott. When you make the statement you did you are trying to lower the value of the other person thereby raising the value of your own opinions.

It was an amusing observation. The rest is apparently your continued attempt to turn the whole thing into personal issues.

Plscott didn't see it as humor, nor did I. It was obvious the intent. In what way do you see it improving or adding to the discussion?

I found it amusing. Of course, I find your continuing to disrupt the thread about it far more amusing. How many posts have you made about it now? :D

  18. Wrong. My observation that you & plscott have a spelling error in common has absolutely nothing to do with my EXTREMELY low opinion of K-W. I've never based my opinion-- or my arguments in support of that opinion-- on anything other than their utter lack of demonstrable academic standards, their distasteful high-pressure sales tactics, their interstate flight to avoid meaningful regulation, or the fact that they continue to bombard my Inbox with their tripe.

So, having covered that-- that I don't think your spelling penchants reflect upon K-W's academic credibility one way or another-- perhaps you'd like to return to the show already in progress?

They're laughing at KW students? That's funny because I do the same thing. I guess we have something in common.:)

See you guys are all the same. You think KW is a bad institution, and thats fine. Whether are not you are right is something to debate about. I agree in many ways with most of you, and disagree in other ways. Why give the "students" so much crap? Have you ever bought an exercise machine, or a something else from a very good marketing scheme that you found out later that it wasn't what you expected. I find that some of you here, not all, but some are the most rude and arrogant people I have ever seen anywhere. Go after KW if you like, but why go after the students. I did not know some of negative attributes of KW until I was deep in the program. Does that make me bad, or KW for not disclosing these things to me?

You have to wonder why a site with 4000 has hundreds of post from the same people, and few from the rest. Any disagreement, or suggestion that is not in line with a select few, and the attack dogs are out. Wonder why the new people do not hang around.
