Does the Keller Graduate School of Management tuition of USD1795.00 seem a bit overpriced to anyone? I realize they might be a well-respected institution but are they really worth approximately three (3) times as much as some other graduate schools? Would an MBA specializing in Project Management from Keller be better received by employers than say the similar programme offered at Aspen University?

    Many More Options

Keller is private like UOP. Aspen? Never heard of it. Tons of accredited online schools offer MBA's at a fraction of that cost. I used to teach at UOP for instance and would NEVER get a degree there. Devry owns Keller... same model as UOP. Try the Virtual University Gazette. They have a free online booklet of online degrees. Or, try BA in 4 Weeks and look at the section on masters degrees.

Keller is a school of Devry University.. so I think it is regionally accredited. Aspen, of which I am a student in the general MBA program, is nationally accredited. The utility of the degree is something you ought to be concerned about. The general consensus on this forum is that regional accreditation and professional accreditation has more utility by far as compared to national accreditation. You might want to search the forum for DETC v/s RA discussions in order to get a feel for the degrees in question.

    Re: Many More Options

Most of the online MBA schools which offer courses at low/reasonable prices are Nationally accredited or by DETC. I havent seen a RA online school offering course around $10000. Please point out some of such schools. I will be interested in such courses.

    thanks

Keller Graduate School of Management was established in the ‘70s as a regionally-accredited non-profit graduate business institution. It built its reputation in the business community on its own and did not have any ties with DeVry until the merger with the DeVry Institutes of Technology in 2002. The school is now DeVry University with Keller serving as its graduate school.

Two years ago, Forbes (or Businessweek, can’t remember exactly which popular business magazine) ranked Keller among the top seven institutions in the US (Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern, and Michigan included) trusted by companies to conduct corporate training programs. Keller was also listed among those schools with the most number of company-paid tuition arrangements for employees.

I have a number of friends who’ve attended Keller and are pleased with the instructors and the rigor of the programs. They say that the $400+/unit rate (each course is four units) is higher than that of state schools and many DL schools, but considering that Keller is a private and established B&M institution that offers online programs to boot, the tuition isn’t that bad (well, they do have their employers paying for their education, so it would be a different matter if you’re taking out loans…)

I believe that it's the individual's strenghts, experiences, and other qualifications that should really matter, but if one goes by school alone, my theory is that given Keller's standing in the business community and the fact that it is regionally accredited, a degree from Keller will definitely have more weight than one from Aspen.

I would definetely agree with Arch. I am currently a student of Keller online (MBA project management), and I can definetely tell you that this is a very good program. The instructors are pretty knowledgeable and courses are pretty well organized. I always get a feeling that I am learning a lot from the courses.

Reg. the cost, I think the cost is definetely on the higher side, but given the quality of the program, I think it is worth it.

    Just join the circus. (joke).

I was pretty impressed with the info package that Keller sent me. I was also encouraged by the simple fact that it has actual admissions criteria other than, "You got the money?" However, the girl who was supposed to be my admissions advisor sucked hind tit. For some reason she refused to call me at work and would always leave voice messages on our machine or with my wife, which was useless.

My wife still periodically tries to convince me to just go to teachers college so we can get our summers off together.

    Ugh.

I'm still confused. (ref. to old thread I started)

There are so many better, fully accredited B-schools available via distance for about the same or less.

For just a bit more tuition ($750/crhr versus $600/crhr), you could attend Kelley (Indiana), which is a real top-20ish B-school, nationally-recognized, one of the top marketing programs in the world! For about the same price, you could attend: top 70ish UMass, top 60ish UT-Dallas, top 50ish Florida, top 30ish ASU.

For less, you could attend: Florida State, Nebraska, OK State, Auburn.

For a lot less, you could attend: Miss State, Ark Little-Rock.

Keller's only RA accredited, B-school's all about AACSB accreditation. All of the schools I mentioned above are AACSB, and there are many others, just look at USN's online search tool of graduate DL programs or check out BW's online guide to DL MBAs. You can do better than Keller for the money.
