Does anyone have any information or experience with Jacksonville Theological Seminary www.jts.edu ?

Well, if I read the agreement for one to become a facilitator, the school is off the beaten path. In order to become a facilitator, one has to put forth an enormous amount of monies.

    Any opinions then?

    Well, there's this....

    Hi ShotoJuku

Always good to hear from you...

About JTS? No opinion on the school itself (I know nothing) , but there IS this sticking-point from its website:

"JTS is proud to be accredited by the Accrediting Commission International, Inc. ACI is not affiliated with any governmental accrediting agency, and is solely committed to Christian education."

    Two things:

    (1) ACI accreditation is widely considered a pretty bad sign. Here's the well-known article on ACI IAC and the Three Stooges:

    Accrediting Commission International

    (2) I'm pretty sure I've seen ACI accreditation on a couple of secular ...er, "schools." It won't publish a list of its "accredited" schools, so I'm going by memory. If I'm right, ACI can't be said to be "solely committed" to Christian education, in the strictest sense, but that's a very minor point.

If in doubt, refer to point 1. :)

    Then you already knew that...

    Hi

Just realized - went through all this on another board that ShotoJuku has already read. I'm sure he's looking for new info and not a re-hash of what has already been said.

Yes, granted - if anyone cares:

    (1) The ACI story I posted the link to is 20 years old.
    (2) I'm no expert of any kind

JTS may have had what they considered valid and pressing reasons to go with ACI (as they told me in that other forum.)
I believe JTS may now be accredited by another CHEA-unrecognized accreditor that is in the same building as (or next to) JTS - or so I read in another forum (Degreeboard)

OK - no opinion on JTS as a school - they can speak for themselves.
But - I have seen nothing to change my feelings about ACI one bit - not that anybody should care.

    Hi Johann,

Thanks for the info and your insights (on the ACI). I was referred to the JTS several months ago and like you don't really know too much about them so I figured I come back to this thread and see if anyone out there has any current info on JTS itself.

    Thanks again!

    Just this:

    Hi

This might be a good sign. There's a link between MISD and CCU, one of your three almae matres, ShotoJuku! Here it is...

Master's International School of Divinity - California Coast University

Also, these folks know how to write attention-grabbing seminar titles. I like this one!

    EVANSVILLE, INDIANA
    AUGUST 11-13 - Wednesday noon - Friday
MONEY, SEX, AND POWER IN A CULTURE OF CORRUPTION CC-1503-S . (ALL LEVEL ELECTIVE) Academic & CEU Approved .

Nothing else to report. Cheers :)

    Good writers at that school!

    Hi -

A great piece (I thought) from the MDIVS site. They take considerable pains to explain what they are and what they're not (a degree mill) and I quote their humorous offering:

    "Ten Commandments for Degree Mills"

    1. Thou shalt seduce them with ridiculously low tuition.
    2. Thou shalt boast of being accredited by a worthless agency.
    3. Thou shalt offer as many different degree titles as possible.
    4. Thou shalt give life-experience credit for everything.
    5. Thou shalt not require too much work for anything.
    6. Thou shalt not refuse anyone entrance into any program.
    7. Impress them with your "accredited" faculty, they won't know that there is no such thing.
    8. Always appeal to their vanity by offering them what they "deserve."
    9. Provide high quality printed degrees and transcripts to deflect questions about the low quality of the program.
    10. Encourage skeptics to visit your web site, discourage them from visiting your office.

Great writing job, MDIVS! I love it! :)

Agreed. They seem to have a better overall impression and perhaps need a much closer look see. Thanks!
