I just picked up on this, and don't remember seeing it before....

NFL great Jerry Rice finished his college degree in 2001 (after 17 years) by completing coursework via correspondence & independent study.

Hello, I'm glad for Jerry Rice and found it a parallel story to Mike Davis, coach for the University of Indiana who received his degree from TESC. The story is in Winter 2002 Invention from TESC. Perhaps an inspiration for the coaches that have shakey resume material. Hille I think it can be printed off the TESC web page. Have a great evening.:)

If they allow portfolio credit, Jerry could probably put together a pretty decent one for football.

I live in the SF Bay Area, and have seen Jerry on TV a lot. The guy is very well spoken and he obviously is well educated. He's always been sort of a walking-talking advertisement for his little known Mississippi school.

BTW, Bruce. Congratulations on your own recent football success back there in New England. Despite the fact that your guys beat Jerry and the Oaklands in OT in the Foxboro snow bowl.

Thanks Bill, it's been a long time in the making. It even makes up for the horrible call of Ben Drieth during the last N.E./Oakland playoff game in 1978 (no, we Boston fans never forget!).

On the original subject, I'm always glad to see pro athletes go back to finish their degrees. We had Emmitt Smith a few years ago, and now Jerry Rice...both well-spoken, classy role models for the younger fans.
