I feel safe to state that academic awards of National State format

1. Why did you (or your clone) recently post a reply (by Azad) to a post addressed specifically to Le(a)rner? I have yet to see a simple, very brief, clear, unambiguous response (if any such exists) to this question.

2. A very cursory examination of some of your prior posts here on these boards show that sometimes you spell one (English) word correctly and almost immediately in another post, spell it incorrectly!

Examples:

"acusation"
"justace"
"arogant"
"borred"
"loosers"

It might appear to some of us, at least, that your bad writing is a deliberate and contrived act by one of your Le(a)rner clones, to convince us of your other persona. If you want to be two persons, be two persons! Spare us the artificialized language fluctuations.

Until the Moderators have had enough of you (or both of you) and boot you out for violating the TOS, you are free like everyone else here to be as anonymous as you like. Just quit the tidal wave writing act, please.

On the one hand, maybe, some of us are delusional and paranoid and are seeing things about you that are simply not there? On the other hand, there have been some legitimate doubt expressed by some in here, as to whether you are one or two or more persons.

I was even building a post calling it to everyone's attention -- again -- when I noticed your posted and dumped mine. There's a remarkable difference -- notwithstanding the small errors that are still present -- between that post (that you quoted) and all of Lerner's others herein... and elsewhere. And notice that in said post -- the post which is suddenly of higher grammatical and spelling quality -- Lerner's exhibiting a higher level of defensiveness and frustration. See, when the stressors kick in for this guy, he can't maintain character... in more ways than one, I might add.

Assuming for the sake of argument that there are trolls at work here on Degreeinfo, how should we repond?

Chasing people around the board and replying to every one of their posts with rants and flames isn't the best idea. Readers just see that as assholes going off on each other. They will walk away from Degreeinfo thinking 'what a bunch of idiots'. And that's just what the troll wants them to think.

Trolls are provocateurs. They hope to draw other people down to their own level. They hope to disrupt thoughtful conversations and replace them with loud and angry ego-battles. By doing that they hope to discredit the board.

But trolls can't do all of that by themselves. They need our help.

And I don't think that we should assist them in our own destruction.

I think that we perform best when we remain imperturbable, when we just continue on making thoughtful, informed and persuasive posts. Instead of venting our frustration in angry ad-hominem attacks, we should preserve a calm likeable demeanor. And importantly, we should stick to the issues that trolls would like to divert us from.

Put another way, we should behave like the grownups around here.
