So I graduated with my BA in Sociology this past January, and my employer called me into his office the other day to chat. He heard that I had graduated and he said that he wanted to keep me in the company. So, he offered me a (substantial) promotion! I accepted it and I start next week. The online thing didn't bother him at all and it didn't matter that my major has nothing to do with my job. I just thought I'd share in case there was anyone out there on the fence about online education. Not only did I get the promotion, but when I updated my online resume, the calls started coming in more frequently.
It's nice that he recognized your accomplishment but I'm guessing that he was also rewarding you for the quality of your work. Congratulations!
Ditto...congrats BTW. After I earned my BS in Criminal Justice the only thing I accomplished was earning the nickname "college boy" from the then chief (who never went to college). Though after my MBA I had a new job and new career (a whole new life in fact) within 7 months. I'm love hearing success stories like this.
