Russia announced its intentions by "warning" everyone that Ukraine will invade Moldova disguised as Russian troops. Uh, huh. Sure.

Russia has a good reason to be worried. If I remember correctly during Soviet times they stockpiled weapons and equipment in Predistrovie and Moldova, one of the largest such anti NATO centers. Ukraine if gets hold of it will have alot of tanks and other amunitions to defend and push back the occupiers. It can resupply UAF for years.

So Russia may do a move to prevent Ukraine from obtaining large quantities of mechanized and other, Air defence and canons etc, equipment.
Ofcorse Ukraine has no plans to invade Moldova or Belarus as the Russian propaganda suggests.

    Khuylo Putin,

I don't have much to add. I just thought that throwing in a "Khuylo Putin" about now just seemed fair.

BTW, I saw a Ukrainian Resistance special report on CNN that I found interesting. It covered some of the resistance cells and activities in Kherson during the Russian occupation.

Maia Sandu's government has guts. They just passed a law to amend the Constitution, changing the national language from "Moldovan language with Latin script" to "Romanian language". The historical fact is Moldovan ("Moldavian") language was created in 1920ies by the Soviet Union, by taking Romanian language and making it use Cyrillic; so, "Moldovan with Latin script" is a standard Romanian (most of the historic Moldova Principality is in Romania). The country's Declaration of Independence recognized that. But it's an identity issue exploited by the pro-Russian leftist parties all the way since 1991. Way to finally touch that third rail, Maia! Good luck!

Right. Moldovans speak Romanian. Even an octogenarian Western Decadent Imperialist like ol' Johann knows that!
    Buna treaba, Maia! (Good job!)

I know embarrassingly little about Moldova, Ukraine's southern neighbor, fellow victim of russia meddling, and now a teammate in EU candidacy hurdle Olympics. Just soviet-era stereotypes: fruit? wine? sun? Oh, and Ukrainian-Soviet pop goddess Sofia Rotaru was shoehorned into Moldovan identity after authorities deemed her too Ukrainian (at the same time as the author of her early Ukrainian hit songs was brutally murdered by KGB - again, for writing songs that were blatantly too Ukrainian). It's the poorest coutry in Europe (playing musical chairs with Ukraine for the honors), a democracy with official and political corruption struggles that would be all too familiar to a Ukrainian. All the good luck in the world to them (and to Ukraine, since it looks like Brussels joined two countries at the hip in the EU candidacy process). Also, death to khuylo and Mordor.

Fruit, wine, sun and ... fashion models. Many. Don't forget them, Stanislav. Lovely, all of them!
Diana Curmei, Ileana Lazariuc, Doina Ciobanu, Xenia Deli, Alina Zotea-Durnea... :emoji_blue_heart: :)

As for khuylo and Mordor. - Absolutely!

Oops! Xenia Deli - Moldovan then, American now. Good career, both countries - a deservedly well-known model.

I see. Looked up Diana Curmei, and she's apparently Miss Italy 2009. Holding up the reputation of Eastern Europe as the source of world's prettiest immigrants. I don't know whether that's a source of pride or a harmful stereotype.
On this point, let me mention Erika Eleniak, a Baywatch babe and Playboy Playmate of July 1989. She has the coolest Ukrainian Canadian descent - her great-great-grandfather Ivan Eleniak is credited with starting organized migration of Ukrainians to Canada. He's one of the two people who started the First Wave over 100 years ago, creating the diaspora that gave us Ed Stelmach, Paul Yuzyk, Chrystia Freeland, numerous entertainers, athletes, and frightening number of hockey players including The Great One, Wayne Gretsky.

Definitely a source of pride - what else could it be? I think the truth is -- ONE source of the world's prettiest immigrants. That takes it out of the stereotype category. Women of beauty come from all over. Asia, Europe, Africa, Arab lands... and yeah, Mexico, Central and South America.

Here, I've been privileged to see - and sometimes actually meet - very lovely immigrant women from a quite a few places. There's a special place in my heart for all those who are beautiful inside - and that always shows. Look into their eyes and you can see into their hearts. It's wonderful. That's real beauty!

Yes, Eastern European women have a high beauty quotient - but so do other countries. Learn to say "Welcome to Canada," in as many languages as you can. :) Most like that!

The neighboring to Russia countries, have no choice but train their military and build arsenal that will make anyone think twice before they attack.
This includes trying to have WMDs.
Ukraine with heavy price proved that its posible to resist the aggressors.

Indeed. With extreme courage. May they soon prove it is also possible to hand the aggressors a lasting, final defeat - and restore the peace and the lands that were both stolen from them. It is saddest, that the lives lost cannot be restored. Those lost should be well-commemorated and remembered for generations to come.

The United States didn't learn from Vietnam, which gave us Iraq and Afghanistan.

Russia didn't learn from Afghanistan, which now gives them Ukraine.

Ukraine will not win this in a conventional way. It is an asymmetrical war. It will be won by Ukraine because Russia simply cannot last.

(To the United States): You can kill ten of our men for every one we kill of yours. But even at those odds, you will lose and we will win. -- Ho Chi Minh

North Vietnam lost every major battle against the greatest superpower the world has ever known. But they won the war.

I'm pretty sure that there are one or two where they at least fought to a draw, if not a dubious "win". But, yeah, they mostly lost.
