If I pursue a DBA I would like to have some DBAs as mentors/instructors. I trust Nova Southeastern uses DBAs in their program.

You can choose your dissertation team. I specifically chose one member who had a DBA. However, the most important cog is the dissertation chair, regardless of what alphabetical letters follow his name.

Global Conspiracy Theory that the PhD is Superior to the DBA? LOL

To my knowledge, NCU is the only university in the United States that prefers to hire PhDs in business over DBAs. If anyone can provides links to other universities that also do this, then please feel free to try. Realistically, a global conspiracy cannot be extrapolated based on NCU's hiring requirements i.e. extrapolating that the PhD is superior to the DBA. RFValve is the only one who is doing this.

My team's research was limited to general business and management faculty at universities offering masters and doctoral degrees accredited by AACSB, IACBE and ACBSP. We found over 350 faculty members with DBAs, which constituted nearly 6% of the faculty. There are certain fields, such as accounting, where DBAs are far more prevalent. Someone with a DBA in accounting and practical career experience has a very good shot at being hired, since this is a high demand area.
