    well,

I just completed advanced programming lets just say it is hard !
Object oriented programming itself is hard but this class takes the cake. In the class you use vb.net to retrive information from an access database. You create drop down and exit statements on your form this is the most intenses class i think I ever had! any way watch out for this class. it is not like the previous vb programming class it skips intermediant programming and goes straight to advanced programming. This class assumes you know everything up to this point and starts from there. The book is ok but could use some revamping major revamping. The web programming class I am in now is continues with vb.net programming to create asp.net applications. All and all Id have to say get microsoft step by step programming with vb.net this will save you in this class !

I will keep you informed !

    Only 3 classes left ! wow !:D

I am starting the first of the programming classes with AIU this coming week. They sent quite a bit of software Viusal Studio for VB.net and C++ and also for Visual J# which I haven't heard of before.

But you are saying they teach VB in all of the AIU programming classes?

At any rate, I hope I can do it, programming has never been my strong suit.

Good luck with the rest of your classes.

    Hey Codekiller,

Did they go into data structures much? I just finished Advanced C++ (which is really an intermediate class I think because there is another programming class after this called information processing which goes into abstract data structures in more depth than this class). OOP is a little confusing at first (it took a little bit to get used to). Had some trouble with sorting linked lists and searching through binary trees (couldn't figure out how to manipulate nodes when there were no element numbers to refer to). I figured it all out though (atleast to the point that I was able to complete the required projects). I also finished a computer architecture class, which was easy at first, but increased in difficulty in no-time. I passed with a "B", though so Maybe, I will actually pass the more advanced assembly class when I finally take it (maybe not ;))

What do you have left? I am taking visual basic this semester (I should of taken in the beginning, but I was trying to complete all the hard classes first so I can skate through the rest). Never programmed in visualbasic before (Applesoft, TRS-80 and Quickbasic basic :D , but no visualbasic). So, I hope I pick up on it fairly easy. It seems like it's pretty easy to construct an actual windows application rather than making a DOS console window program.

Oh well, sorry for the life story. I figured I would add to your little degree progress BLOG here :D. Good luck with the rest of your classes.

    hello

    Oherra ,

Yes they use vb.net for all the programming classes now. if programming is your weakest suit as it was mine then I suggest a few things to you! First off the book is not very good get another book before the start of class to go over the fundementals and explain principles. The second thing is read the chapters early so that you have time read the twice before you turn in your assignments. Take notes on all the chapters and write down the questions you have on the chapter email them to your teacher early so that he can give you help before you start you assignment!

As for the classes I have left. I am in Web Applications ITP430 now the last 2 classes are

    Advanced Network O/S Administration ITN330

    Strategic Management ITB460

    Wfready,

Yes we went over data structures alot! Most of our projects dealt with creating data sets and creating links between datbases using xml to create a data relation between 2 databases. Looking at your previous class advanced c++ you shouldnt have a problem with vb.net unless you have 5 week classes like me. Best to remember if you taking vb.net and not vb6,.net is alot more powerful and robust if they utilize all of the features. Thats why all fuctions in vb.net are not backwards compatible to vb6. But you will love all the new features . net has such as reduced coding methods a better ado engine and xml intergraion.

Well as they say in the lion king"Hakuna Matata " that means no worries!:D

The beginning programming class has been great so far. Excellent professor and wonderful text. The only problem... the group project. It's 400 out of a possible 1,000 total points for the course and for the life of me I cannot get my group members to work. I am about to go insane.
