FSU has it. It is a four-course graduate certificate. Maybe I'll go for it, although it's not exactly my area.

Do you see any advantages in going for a program with this certification over another(one without it), though?

I am not seeing anything in industry asking for this cert...but then again, it is the school that is certified and I am not sure how recruitment is at a school that has it vs one that is not certified.

I don't know... probably depend on the school itself. After all, it's not an industry certification, it's a certificate program at the university. So my guess will be that school's reputation would be more important than this endorsement. That's just a guess, though, ant it is not my field.

    Bing,
We must be very clear on this. The 'Certs' are for the Schools / Colleges, not the students. The certs are, in a way, a blessing from the NSA (and related governing bodies) that the curriculum meets their standards. There are five standards that can be applied for and met (4011, 4012, 4013, 4014 and 4015).

Also, there are some government related scholarships available through the listed 'Centers of Excellence'.

To me, the certs mean the school has met a standard - so it matters. Also, it tells me they are teaching what is important. It is why I selected Capitol.

    Re: Re: Information Assurance

Once you graduate a program with this certification is there anything to be put on your resume like "certified assurance" or something like that?

I know that the schoo, once they meet the criteria, can add the NSA logo.

My question was whether companies were looking to this certification more or else just something else for academia to do.

I do not think most employers would look for these directly, it is too new. On the other hand, many hiring security managers might be familiar with the verbiage and association of the program to the government security efforts.

It is also a way for schools to get grant money, remember that.
